much closer resemblance between DR and MS imo

If you say Mena Suvari, this is more or less what I see:

http://www.kellie.de/alicia/mena-suvari.jpg

That looks nothing like Denise Richards to me.

first of all, I'm not trying to say that DR and MS look like sisters or anything, just that

they're closer to each other than either is to SE in terms of facial structure. that's

why I chose the Mena pic I did; I wanted a pic showing her with minimal makeup and a

neutral expression. (we still need one like that for Shannon. here's a closer one, albeit

still not perfect for our purposes: http://www.imdb.com/media/rm1367055104/nm0002436)

I think BBB is right about the eyes: the widely spaced eyes are a huge part of DR's look,

and that's something that MS has too, although Mena's eye separation is somewhat less

noticeable because of her thicker nose bridge and lower brow. jersey's picture shows

Mena with partially raised eyebrows, maximally retracted eyelids, and a hair/downward-

camera-angle combination that minimizes her forehead, not to mention the makeup. all

of those things tend to make it harder to compare people, because angles and expressions

introduce so many more variables

I am starting to notice, though, that the foreheads of SE and DR are closer to each other

than to MS, although SE's looks a little smaller and definitely has a more "forward" hairline.

must keep thinking about this...it's so much more important than the paper I'm supposed

to be writing...

I don't think Goony's really just making fun of me for thinking those two look similar.

they should just have the organ player play the song and have the crowd sing it. that'd be enjoyable enough for me.

I'd like that too, but why should what you want or what I want be criterial for what

the organization should do? we "serious fans" are only one slice of their market, and

it's hard to imagine that most casual viewers would rather listen to an organ than

watch a minor celebrity

Do you think a bigger portion of the fan base (or future fan base) would rather hear Jeff Gordon sing the 7th inning stretch than hear it done by organ?

I'm actually asking seriously. Cuz I think you may be on to something. People only tune into the early rounds of American Idol to hear the really bad singers, right? If they didn't, why would they bother watching? Most of the performers early on are horrible or basically stand no chance.

And what that's basically saying is people really like bad singing.

I do.

each time someone sings the stretch, you get a strong reaction (=attention) from anyone who

a) likes the celebrity

b) dislikes the celebrity

c) likes to see celebrities from the particular genre that this person is from

d) likes to see celebrities in general

e) likes it when celebrities seem more "human" and "accessible" when they pop up in

unexpected contexts, do things that they're very average at, and have semi-casual

conversations right before the viewer's eyes

f) likes it when celebrities humiliate themselves

g) likes it when people of any description humiliate themselves

that adds up to a lot of people, and, importantly, often is going to be a group composed of

people who might not have been paying rapt attention to the game beforehand

It's an ugly side of humanity, but people enjoy watching a crash n' burn moment.

Not so much fun to be the centerpiece of one, of course.

Denise Richards and Neve Campbell in Wild Things was one of cinema's finest moments.

You left a name out there.

Having guest conductors in the booth is just asking for failure.

Even if you sing it great, no one will really pay all that much attention. If you really suck at it, people will certainly take notice.

Why put yourself in that position?

First guess? Because your last film of any note was Love, Actually in 2003, and your last TV appearance worth mentioning was on Dancing with the Stars where you were quickly eliminated?

she was in love actually for all of 1 minute and didnt talk i dont think

Like I said before: it's the fault of the stupid Cubs marketing department for rolling these "celebrities" up into the broadcast box for the cringe-worthy interviews and 7th inning stretch sing-alongs.
