More like mediocre closer. He's shaky enough that I worry Lou will move Marmol from fireman to closer at some point.

 

In a weird way, because the rest of the bullpen has been so inconsistent and untrustworthy, he's pretty much been forced to keep Marmol at that spot. If we had someone like Guzman or Samardzija show a few weeks' worth of nastiness, I think that move would have been made by now.

I attended that game with a few friends of mine who are cards' fans. From our seats in the 270 section, we couldn't see that part of the wall. We could only hear everyone cheer when he appeared to catch it, then go silent as he crumpled to the warning track. It was eerie to be right there and yet have no idea of the severity of the collision. On the plus side, the grim silence that fell over the stadium put an end to the circulation of "the wave".
