It would be funny if the Jags drafted him. Is he still projected to be drafted in the 1st day?

Is the draft this year going to be a 3 day draft? Thought I remembered something about the 1st round being by itself then two more days.

Thats what I was thinking, except Friday-Sunday.

The National Football Post's Wes Bunting has released his first mock draft:

1. St. Louis Rams: Sam Bradford, QB, Oklahoma

2. Detroit Lions: Ndamukong Suh, DT, Nebraska

3. Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Gerald McCoy, DT, Oklahoma

4. Washington Redskins: Jimmy Clausen, QB, Notre Dame

5. Kansas City Chiefs: Russell Okung, OT, Oklahoma State

Posted
8. Oakland Raiders: Carlos Dunlap, DE, Florida

Dunlap is a physical freak who possesses the size/speed numbers needed to impress Oakland’s owner and front office.

LOL. Go Raiders!

My official hope is for Clausen to go to Washington. New coach, relative history of success, a decent base with which to work, and lots of TV games thanks to the media's love of the NFC East.

That being said he'll probably fall to Cleveland or Buffalo, thereby ensuring his professional failure just like the last one.

I would be concerned about Carolina, but we of course don't pick until round 2 and are currently burning our bridges with our best defensive player, so yeah.

Thing is, Dunlap's a really good player too.

The Raiders have an amazing ability to turn good players into crap.

Very true.

Dunlap sounds like a perfect fit for the Raiders. This is from Todd McShay's latest mock draft where he has Dunlap going at No. 17 to the Titans.

"Dunlap is a bit immature and there are questions about his work ethic, but he also possesses a rare combination of size and athleticism for a defensive end."

Immature? Questions about work ethic? Rare combo of size and athleticism?

Ladies and gentlemen, your Oakland Raiders 2010 first round draft pick.

If this doesn't scream draft Clausen for the Rams if they're taking a qb #1, nothing will.

From draftinsider.net

- Sam Bradford has announced he will not throw at the combine and from those who watched him workout recently, that’s not a bad idea. Evidently Bradford was allowed to let loose during his training last week in Florida. Sources have said his deep outs fluttered and showed little speed. Evidently Bradford has not impressed to many people with his athleticism either.

I really have not been able to figure out by any stretch why Bradford is rated higher than Clausen by any reputable draft analysts. Not that there's no way Bradford COULD BE a better NFL quarterback, but when it comes to NFL quarterbacking skills, there isn't anything Bradford seems to have on him at this juncture.

But what am I saying? I don't want Jimmy anywhere near St. Louis. Bradford's a stud. Grab him up, St. Louis. He's there for the taking. Dude played in a national title game!

I think it's more a focus on production and reputation over pure natural skills. Bradford has more total yards passing (though only by a little under 300) and an 88:16 TD:INT, while Clausen has a 60:27 TD:INT ratio. Bradford has also been liked by scouts and achieved success much earlier than Clausen. Whether that's the right way to look at it or not, a number of draft analysts before the combine/pro days will put more emphasis on collegiate production over pure skills.

I'd say if both were participating in the combine, then analysts would be much higher on Clausen after he made a much better showing than even a healthy Bradford. I like Clausen better because of his skills, but I think Bradford can be a good to great QB in the right system (west coast-esque, probably).

both QBs are total turds. i would pass on either of them.

Neither are likely to be the next Peyton/Brady/Brees/Rivers, but both can be very good in the NFL, I think.

Not Bradford.

I don't think either one are worth spending a top 5 pick on (along with the money that is attached to such high picks when both seem to have decently high bust potential). There are a lot of QB's that are jumbled together (that I don't think are that much better/worse than Clausen or Bradford) that will go in later rounds. The Rams should take Suh, or whoever they think is the best playmaker on the DL, or just try to trade out.

you're insane my friend. Clausen is deadly accurate and his decision-making is unbelievable.

well, you've definitely watched them more than i have, but you're also an ND grad. i've never ever been impressed with clausen.

I like Bradford for his scary accuracy and quick release. Rocket arm no, but good enough. As much qb passing talents as Drew Brees and Tom Brady, does he have the skills up top to match theirs is the question in my mind. I like him better than Stafford when he came out.

Dude threw 2 picks that could be blamed on him last year, had the most insane 4th quarter numbers I've ever seen, and I can probably count on my 2 hands the amount of just plain bad throws he made. All with torn ligaments in his toe for 9 1/2 of the 12 games. Got damn near murdered his freshman year playing behind the worst offensive line in NCAA football history, with an injury that limited his ability to throw deep, raw and undeveloped as all get out, and still managed to throw more TD's than picks. He's the most accurate QB I've ever watched, throws a good deep ball, rarely makes a bad decision, and is a proven clutch quarterback. I'm vaguely hoping people pay more attention to his 'lack of upside' and his team's lack of wins so that he can keep from getting Brady Quinn'ed into a hopeless team.

I'd never say I'm positive that someone will succeed in the pros (I thought that about Quinn and that didn't turn out so hot), but if Clausen doesn't then I'm not sure what Notre Dame quarterback ever will.

He's not Favre. He doesn't have a cannon. But his precision and decision-making are really good. Especially on deep balls.

The Football Scientist Lab Result: Drew Brees and Philip Rivers have proven that the ability to read a defense is much more important than possessing a cannon for an arm. Clausen has displayed superb ability in that area, and when that is added to his more than adequate skill in placing accurate throws downfield, it equals a TFS seal of approval.

Not Bradford.

In the right system, I don't see why he can't. Clausen's likely to be better and I'm not sure if I think Bradford will be good enough to warrant a top 5-10 pick, but I think he can be a good to very good NFL QB.

I could see Clausen as a top 5 pick, but I'd hesitate to take him first. That said, if the Rams are dead set on taking a QB with the 1st pick, it should be Clausen.

However, like you, I'd lean more toward Suh or Eric Berry with that top pick (if the Rams need a safety, I'm not sure what they have beside Atogwe) than either of the QBs. There are guys later in the draft (John Skelton, Tony Pike, Tebow) that intrigue me enough to pass on the massive contract either Bradford or Clausen will get in the top 5.
