Just realized the Cardinals miss Greinke again. ](*,)

Unfortunately. I was hoping that Sunday would be the day (where I'm taking my father, father-in-law, and my grandpa) that he would be pitching. Although, Meche is pitching that day, I would still perfer Greinke. But then, Meche is a better option than Davies and Bannister.

I just hope that 130+ pitches won't come back and bite Meche, come Sunday.

It's just amazing the number of aces they have missed this year.

The fair thing to do is to trade for all the aces they have missed and start them when we play the Cardinals.

The Cards don't miss Santana. He's pitching today which means he'll also pitch on Thursday in the final game of the series.

Where are you looking?

Here's the Mets page on ESPN that shows Santana against Carpenter on Thursday.

The Mets' MLB.com page shows the same thing.

I see it now. I swear when I checked Sat morning that ESPN didn't have those two going in the series. They must have changed it. Good, about time they caught an ace.

On if it's neat being responsible for having such big crowds on the nights he pitches:

"I really don't think that's the case. I really don't. We've been getting a lot of fans compared to what we usually get. I probably pitched three or four times on either Friday night or giveaway nights. They all come for that anyway. That's the main attraction, I think, is when they do giveaway stuff. I don't know why fans think that's so neat, but they do. I guess the Royals do the best giveaways of any place I've seen."

And then, there was this exchange when Greinke was asked which NL All-Star he'd most like to face:

Zack: Maybe Chipper Jones. Is he here? I'm not even paying attention.

Reporter: No, he's not here.

Zack: He's not even here? Well, he would've been my favorite to face, if he was. Why isn't he, have you heard?

Reporter: Well, the National League third basemen are David Wright and Ryan Zimmerman.

Zack: Is Chipper doing good? Why isn't he here?

Reporter: He's having a good year, just maybe not as good as those other guys.

Zack: He should be here. That doesn't even make any sense. It's like, I'll vote Jeter in for the All-Star game the rest of his career, because you have to. He's Jeter. And I'll vote Chipper Jones in.

from the interviews i've read he kind of seems like a d-bag. oh well

Actually he just is strange. He is far from arrogant. He has anxiety issues. He used to go up to people in the mall and ask if they would be his friend and try to swap phone numbers with him.

That is a fact. By no means, he's a douche. He's just wired in a different way. But I couldn't care less what he wants to talk about or if he wants to find phone numbers, as long as he pitches like he is capable of. If you listen to him in person, you can understand that he's just wired differently, but at the same time, it's really funny.

I feel bad for the guy, he was signing autographs for little kids early this year and they were all talking to him and he just doesn't know how to handle it. He usually rides in with someone. That day it was his dad, I was looking at him and you see even he was uneasy with how Zack acts.

Yeah, and he hated interviews back then before he got help. Now I'm sure he still hates them, but I don't think he minds them that much. Still though, it's just funny to listen to him.

anybody notice that grienke hasn't been that good since the end of may? he had a 1.32 WHIP is june and a 1.63 WHIP so far in july. k/bb still looks good, he's just been giving up a ton of hits.

not saying it means much... he was due for some regression. i just looked at his numbers for the first time in a while and was surprised to see how poorly he's been pitching lately, despite maintaining the low era

"I was hoping (President Obama) didn't like me, because none of the White Sox guys like me. So I was hoping that he'd be like, 'You punk, I hate you.' But he didn't do that."

"I told (Obama) that Jermaine Dye should've been on the All-Star team. And he agreed, I think."

"(His outing) happened too easy, you didn't really get to enjoy it as much being out there. I'll take it, but I was looking forward to working a little bit, trying some pitches out. But it didn't work out like that."
"The neatest part to me was the kind that was in that wheelchair. I was just saying congratulations and everything and he was just normal. Then Derek Jeter came over and he seriously almost jumped out of his chair for Jeter."
"I didn't listen to the whole question. Sorry."
"I don't know why fans think (giveaways are) so neat, but they do. I guess the Royals do the best giveaways of any place I've seen."
"The American League was having trouble with the home run derby guys. If we were at a smaller park, I would've gotten really excited about that. And it won't mess up my swing for the second half, so it would've worked out great."
Talking about Pujols' weekend when he tore up the Royals:

"It wasn't fair, us against him. I don't know what we were thinking, but we were throwing balls over the middle of the plate to him. That didn't work out too good. He got a home run off just about every pitcher he saw, it seemed like."

On whether he dreamed as a kid of being an All-Star:

"This never crossed my mind. The first thing would be making it to the big leagues. That's what you think about all the time. Then it would be hitting like 60 home runs or winning a World Series. That's pretty much all I thought about, hitting all these home runs or batting .400 and then making it to the big leagues and winning a World Series. Nothing else really crossed my mind growing up."

On the attention he's receiving:

"It really bothered me at first. I got used to not having to deal with it, then it was all this stuff, really annoying, but I kind of got used to it and we found a way to get through it. It was more fun than it was a hassle, really, after a while."

On the Royals' handling of his off-field issues:

"The Royals stuck with me. I'm glad they did. I probably tried to get traded a couple times back in the day. But they decided to keep me anyway."

Some gems from the ASG...

Yeah, he's been struggling, but it doesn't help him when his bullpen is letting him down very often. Shame. The Royal pen was actually a strength from last year's season, and now, it's just a mess. Of course, it's also not helping him that the Royal offense is just atrocious, and on top of that, it doesn't really help him that the Royals got possibly one of the dumbest manager in MLB.
