ARam after hitting the game winner -- "Get the F--- outta here"

I love it

There's no question: he is a bad, bad man.

i really really hope soriano went 2001 sosa on us and learned how to take a walk in the offseason. i'm loving this new soriano so far.

Seriously, if I was a manager for another team, and the situation is either a tied game or a one run difference in the 9th or extras, and Aramis is batting, I'd just IBB him.

Did you watch Friday? He still strikes out every time people throw him sliders low and away. the Cardinals either didn't have the pitchers to do that today, or forgot yesterday.

To be fair, the starter yesterday had great movement on his sliders, better than any of the Cardinals pitchers who have pitched since he was pulled.

he's still going to strike out a lot. but if he's taking walks close to this pace the rest of the year, he'll carry us to 90 wins at least.

yeah, that's what happened. they forgot.

just admit it...throwing soriano sliders is not an automatic way to strike him out. he's good. sorry that apparently bothers you (and others) so much for some reason.

but throwing good sliders with good location and having a good fastball and establishing the inside corner with it, is pretty damn close to being a foolproof way to get soriano out.

of course being able to do that isn't easy.

it seems like a lot of people don't realize that soriano actually drew a good amount of walks last season too

the fact that he strikes out a lot doesn't mean hasn't taken a decent amount of walks in recent years. he did in 2006, did again last season, and is doing it again this season.

so you're saying throwing a good pitch in a good location gets him out? go figure.

The only way six percent walk rate is "decent" is if you're pitching.

im not the one who said throwing him sliders was all that had to be done. the book on him is sliders but you have to execute it because he will hit a hanging one 420 feet.

Taking any number of walks is not inconsistent with being unable to lay off the low and outside slider. Unless the number is essentially 100% of PAs

I'm not bothered by Soriano being good, and you won't find any complaints by me except those about contract length and possibly injuries. I remain completely correct in the fact that, over this series, 100% of pitchers who could throw sliders low and away got Soriano out. his non-outs are all from other pitches

IIRC, didn't Soriano struggled in the playoffs because pitchers were throwing sliders nearly all the time last year?

you can always strike him out on sliders low and away, unless he hits the game winning homer......on a slider low and away. That shot off of Perez was not a fastball, folks

Yes, but Chad Billingsley has a good fastball, good command and an excellent slider. Hiroki Kuroda has a quality fastball and a good slider to go with decent command. Lowe has a good slurvey type breaking pitch and he keeps you honest on the inside because he throws his sinker in on the hands quite a bit. All three righties the Dodgers threw established the inside corner with fastballs and put him away with breaking pitches on the outer half.

If Soriano knows you're throwing only sliders to him, he can hit the outer half one, however real MLB pitchers don't do that very often. They keep him honest with fastballs, but they go to the slider to get him moreso than they do against other hitters.
