I really, really wish there were a better place to talk Blackhawks than here (six posts a day), HFboards.com (all Canadian homers) and boards.chicagoblackhawks.com (that place makes me want to punch kittens right in the face.)

http://www.indianheadnation.com

Live chats for games too... mostly everyone there is a season ticket holder.

Uncensored too... but no one gets out of control.

It's blowing up fast... used to only have like 100 posts per day... now about 550 and increasing every day.

I take it those live chats are dead for home games.

Road games usually like 15-25 and still around 10-15 for home games... but like I said it's growing pretty fast.

Another cool thing about IndianHeadNation.com is that Sarah Spain posts there A LOT... she is the writer for mouthpiecesports.com and all of the interviews she does are all questions from us over at IHN. A lot of the guys have inside information as well... a close family friend of the Kane family posts there and is in the locker room after every game and get's all the info we don't know about.

Kyle, I really think NSBB ruins me for other message boards. It is not always civil, but it is well run and the moderators usually keep things under control. The hooligans that seem to spend way to much time not contributing anything of value on most sports teams message boards is very frustrating. Like Cyno said indianheadnation is ok. So is Letsgowings.com. But there are many on both of those sites who are whiners, cussers and add no value to any good discussion.

There's actually like three realllllly bad ones on IHN the rest of the people are pretty cool... there are three though that are a hundred times worse than me... overall it's a great place to talk hockey. Even I have to tone it down over there... you won't get banned for swearing or anything... but be too subjective multiple times and you're gone.

I like browsing LGW but I would never post there... too similar to the nhl.com Redwings board.

There are several really rational, intelligent hockey fans who post on LGW. It is not moderated that well and there is a big meathead group there also. It shows when you have someone do something like give the Ducks props for playing a style that gives the Wings problems(intelligent and rational), than 8 idiots who than say such intelligent things like .... The Ducks.

overall though, when talking about the Wings it is very good. Which there are many boards you dont even get good conversation about the team the board is for.

one other thing I want to rant about hockey message boards in general. There is not NHL conspiracy to screw your team...nor is there one to ensure another team does well. Seems like a huge majority of fans of every team have these feelings.

Except most Wings fans think there is an NHL conspiracy to screw them because Bettman has a personal dislike for Illitch.

I think there is a common theme among many sports message boards that the league/conference for college sports are conspiring against their team.

And what's funny is all the teams that I root for, except the Hawks and Hawkeyes, would be or were at one time, a team that you would consider one of the leagues darlings and would probably benefit from any conspiracy if there really were one.

And the Chicagoblackhawks.com board has that annoying, if you don't blindly support the team you aren't a fan thing going on.

logically it would make more sense for the league to have the Hawks do well. Much larger fan base, teams tend to have higher ratings when they are first getting established than if they have been around for awhile. Help recreate a strong rivalry between the Hawks and the Wings. Also a hockey fan of neither team would probably be more inclined to tune in for a Hawks final because they have seen the Wings before. Like I said, I dont think any conspiracy exists. If there is one, the NHL has not made wise decisions on who they were going to get to be good...see Carolina and Tampa Bay winning cups in the last few years.

A league can conspire to help a good team win, but no matter what level of conspiring you do, there was no making the 96-07 Blackhawks any better.

Alright, now there's like 6 or 7 people wearing Red Wings jerseys at work, and I'm getting it from all sides.

Don't you dare let me down Hawks.

They are just trying to get me to punch a kitten today.

In response to this post:

"Let's go Hawks.

If they are going to win the series, it starts tonight by playing a more competitive game, win or lose. They need to show that their defense can take the puck away and clear the zone more often, and we need to do a much better job of preventing odd man rushes. If they can do that, win or lose tonight, they've got a chance to take care of business at home."

I get this PM:

"WE OR THEY???, Today, 03:16 PM

Let's go Hawks.

If they are going to win the series, DO YOU MEAN IF WE ARE?

it starts tonight by playing a more competitive game, win or lose. They need to show DO YOU MEAN WE NEED TO SHOW ?

that their(OUR) defense can take the puck away and clear the zone more often, and we need to do a much better job of preventing odd man rushes. If they(WE) can do that, win or lose tonight, they've (WE"VE) got a chance to take care of business at home.

THESE ARE BASIC GRAMMAR SKILLS! YOU MUST BE A COLLEGE GRAD???? LOL"

To be fair, you did switch between we and they, which can be confusing to the reader, and is technically incorrect, right?

As long as it's consistent within the clauses, it's fine grammatically.

Semantically, it depends on the situation and the meaning. In the context, "we" and "they" are interchangeable unless I'm trying to emphasize with one or the other, i.e. "we (as opposed to them, emphasizing my membership)" or "they (of whom I am not a member, emphasizing my exclusion)." Since I wasn't trying to emphasize either, both are fine, especially in non-formal writing.
