Tired of Miller Park being called “Wrigley Field North,” the Milwaukee Brewers are encouraging their fans to invade the infamous home of the Chicago Cubs in September.

 

The team was expected to announce Feb. 12 that it has reached an agreement with Amtrak to provide free rides on the Hiawatha train to Chicago for 100 fans to attend the Brewers Sept. 17 game against the Cubs.

 

I'm sure this will work.

lol, that was my initial thought. That's like one third of one bleacher section.

Brewers fans are usually a noticable minority at Brewers/Cubs games already. Not as much as Cubs fans at Miller Park, but its not hard to find a Brewers fan at Wrigley.

The problems with that idea being

 

A. Cubs fans will beat them to the tickets

B. Once Brewers fans realize that their team will go back to sucking, they'll go back to not caring about them.

It says they reached an agreement with them for the free tickets, I'm sure amtrak gets some stadium advertising or they just like the advertising they are getting from the campaign.

This is the problem I have. It's already become quite an issue trying to get tickets to games at face value because of the Cubs' popularity. This just makes it worse.

Awww man... I completely forgot about single-game tickets going on sale. Dammit.

 

edit: Apparently single-game tickets go on sale Feb 28th. Wrigley North, here I come!

 

I was at the final game of the 4-game July sweep last year where Edmonds hit the grand slam. That was a fun game.
