OU probably won't have a 1st rounder as A. Oliver of OSU is the only probable 1st rounder in the state but OU should do well with Richards, Baker, Hubbard, and the Quad Cities product Doyle with several others likely to go between 10-20.

JUCOs are looking pretty bad in OK

HS (if you're still around Norman) maybe head to Yukon, maybe do the 20-30 minute drive to Yukon and see LHP Chad James or another lefty Andrew Heaney out of Putnam City.

It'll be weird knowing that neither Arizona or Arizona St. will likely have a 1st rounder this year.

Given how teams have gone bonanza on relief pitchers in recent drafts, I would expect that Jason Stoffel to be selected within the first forty picks if not the first thirty - barring some major injury. Mike Leake should be a second or third rounder, though he could slip out of the third round easily. Anyways, it's not that odd for the two schools not to produce a first rounder. It happened in 2001, 2002, 2006, and 2007 the last of which, where there were 64 first round picks.

OU always blows in baseball. Oliver may not even be able to play.

Never said they usually have good classes. Fwiw, Oliver would still likely get drafted in the 1st, even with Boras as his advisor and poss. being ineligible to pitch.

Oliver would still go top ten if he was ineligible. Boras would send him to Fort Worth and he'd face better talent than he would in the relatively weak Big XII, though going to the Atlantic League would be better, though FWC is local. Oliver's from up north, I think.

He's from the Cleveland area. I still can't believe that guy is super highly regarded.

The last two years I got to see a lot of the top HS teams in the state play, but now that I'm strapped to a desk, I'm sort of out of the prep loop.

when it comes to college baseball, i usually just go watch Arkansas games, the environment is far better than at OU or OSU.

The last I heard about Oliver was about a week ago, when he was readying some lawsuit or something against the ncaa. not sure on how far it's gone.

Is there anyone at owasso worth keeping an eye on this year?

As far as Arkansas:

Keuchel-LHP

Forrest-RHP

Bolsinger-RHP

Bingham-RHP

Owasso:

Austin Kirk-LHP (committed to OU)

Augie got suspended for four games. Gotta love Texas. Anything illegal involving booze is legal. I believe the first four games are against Illinois-Chicago.

UIC is down this year.

Baseball America has their projected 64 field for the tourney.

Four regionals within a couple hour drive from here. If I were back in Houston, there'd be five within five hours.

Rice, Texas A&M, Baylor and Texas would all be slotting to hold them, with LSU getting one as well.

They've got UIC winning their conference and getting in as well.

The Horizon league is a terrible conference, they have a good Friday starter and a decent SS and that's about it.

Who's their friday starter? Worth watching closely next month? I'm salivating over the potential in the Longhorn's rotation this year. Chance Ruffin (8-3 1.96) will probably be the Friday starter initially, but he's playing fourth fiddle in terms of overall potential to the best collection of power pitching prospects Augie has assembled. Brandon Workman is probably the odds on favorite at this point to claim the number two job. He's a guy who could go in the top 100 picks next year higher if he gets his drek together. Austin Dicharry and Taylor Jungmann are incoming freshman with potential to develop into first round material in 2011. Cole Green is also in the mix for a weekend slot. Sam Stafford could steal some midweek starts too, though his low arm angle makes him an intriguing closer prospect.

No, because you're only looking at his collegiate stats. His FB touches the low 90s (88-91 from what I remember) and he has below avg. breaking stuff and a decent change.

This year, Northwestern will duplicate their 1875 silver ball and championship of the northwest victory over the University of Chicago.
