Burnett - injury prone

Sabathia - will get hurt because overuse will catchup to him

Wang - injury prone

Chamberlain - most overrated player in baseball

Anyone else they plug in at #5 is mediocre at best

the Yankees are still nothing to be scared of, IMO

i think you're kind of looking for ways to trash the yankees. wang suffers an injury running the bases and he's injury prone now? joba might be overhyped, but i don't think he's really overrated- definitely not even close to being the most overrated in baseball. he's been spectacular so far both as a reliever and starter. even if he is a bit overrated, he's still extremely good. s for number 5 being mediocre at-best, i don't know about that. they're still after lowe and they've got some decent cheaper options also. asnyways, it's the number 5 starter, he doesn't have to be great. i still think hughes is going to get it back together and be really good. i don't think c.c. overuse/weight will catch up to him for a few more years either. that contract will kill them in the future but not for a while.

that rotation is really good

More of the same from the Yanks. This, even more than the CC signing has got Carl Pavano part 2 written all over it.

Carl Pavano was an average pitcher coming off a career year.

Ryan Dempster has Carl Pavano part 2 written all over him.

Demp was always a high ceiling prospect, and had started an all-star game before developing elbow problems. He's had a few healthy years since then. Burnett is a much, much better comparison to Pavano than Dempster is.

no, burnett has been easily above average pretty much every year except very early in his career. pavano was above average only two years out of seven when the yankees signed him. plus since when was burnett not a high-ceiling prospect?

Absolutely. And what's scary, even with CC and AJ on board, the Yankees rotation is arguably the 3rd best rotation in the AL East.

I'd say arguably the 2nd best. It's a big stretch to say Tampa' rotation is better.

i think i'd take it over boston's also

Don't look now but my beloved "Red Sox" are making a move in the Peavy sweeps!!!!! :yahoo:

How about the bullpen? Their pen other than Chamberlain was pretty bad last season. Any of you guys see any real viable options here other than Marte and Rivera? And maybe Hughes?

Once they got rid of Hawkins and Farnsworth-less, the Yankee bullpen was fine. A little over used and tired, but fine. We have several good young arms in our pen.

Where do you see Humberto Sanchez fitting in this year?

I think that Sanchez will start out the year in SWB, but could be part of the bullpen "rotation" at some point during the year. I am actually looking forward to seeing him in action this spring.

No love for the team that had the best ERA in the league last season?

Beckett

Daisuke

Lester

Wakefield

Buchholz/whoever

is that their rotation as of right now? I feel like I'm missing somthing

vs

CC

Joba

Burnett

Wang

Pettitte/Huges/Kennedy/Lowe/whoever

I'd take New York's as of right now, even with Burnett's injury risk. Beckett is an injury risk himself, and I'm not a fan of Daisuke and the flukiestERA of all time. New York's looks really solid all the way through. They could very easily have 5 guys with sub 4 ERAs next year, and should have at least 4.
