The best-case scenario would have been a bomb landing on the stadium. I dislike both them schools.

Oh, and these stupid excessive celebration penalties on touchdowns with only a few seconds left have to stop being called. If they go after the other team to celebrate, then by all means throw a flag. But if it's a bunch of teammates jumping around for a while, just let it go.

It was because of the dive into the endzone

Congrats to the Big Ten, who in seven bowls games, came home with one win against mighty South Carolina.

it all goes in cycles. in 10 years the SEC could easily be in a similar situation

I don't think anyone is refuting the fact that the Big Ten is down. We've been pathetic for a couple years now.

Man, Big XII offenses haven't looked pretty good. Sure, McCoy threw for 413 yards....but it took him FIFTY-EIGHT attempts! For comparison, Ohio State only ran 66 plays. Texas ran like 90. Really, it was another disappointing offensive performance in the bowls by a Big XII offense, Ohio State actually moved the ball more effectively.

Really, the two key things leading to a Longhorn defense were: 1) The busted coverage or bad play call on the last TD. Why do you leave no one more than 10 yards off the line of scrimmage when it's the last twenty seconds and they need a touchdown? Makes very little sense. 2) The Buckeyes schemed well for the Longhorns offense and were able to stop it effectively, when they were lined up. However in the third quarter Texas went quick tempo and it got to the point where defensive linemen were standing there when the ball was snapped, out of position or offsides.

Tonight was actually a positive for the Big Ten. They outplayed Texas for most of the game.

I can't be the only one who noticed that the sideline reporter called Quan Cosby "Quam" like 4 times in that interview. And how about when she said "people were saying you didn't deserve to be in this game, much less playing January 8th"? Who said that? 3 Texas Tech fans?

Yeah that was bad tackling on the last play but an even worse play call. Why play a 0 coverage in that situation and leave yourself open to that when you know he's going to throw short underneath?

At least we can now all agree that the idea that Texas is better than USC is utterly laughable 8-)

Not really. Texas may or may not be better than USC. There's a case for both teams. I would have to believe that USC is better, but thinking otherwise is nowhere near being "utterly laughable."

Two things that were apparent: 1) Terrell Pryor has a TON of work to do passing and holy crap he'd be an outstanding wideout. 2) Colt McCoy has a noodle arm and out of 58 attempts threw less than 10 of them more than 10 yards down field.

That's a pretty stupid penalty to call as well. It's not like he pulled a Reggie Bush against the Bears stunt either.

They had been playing with fire that entire drive. They played 0 coverage three or four times trying to get pressure on McCoy.

to be fair, the big ten did what they were supposed to do. they were underdogs in every bowl except for the outback bowl, and they lost every game except for the outback bowl. they also were heavy underdogs in several games (fiesta, rose, capitol one, insight).
