Damn...here comes a .900 OPS, 30 HR season.

Pixie dust, etc..

I could see an .820, 26 HR season. Really hoping that it's "true" prospects. Perdomo and Worrell or something like that.

Ok now the obvious question has to be stated who plays SS for the Padres now? and what does this mean in the Peavy trade? I would think this would make Theriot/Cedeno more attractive and possibly the Braves may jump back in with Escobar, even though they just traded Lillibridge so the Braves wouldn't have any SS. Could Greene have also been a holdup in the trade, maybe Towers knows Theriot/Cedeno is going to be coming in a trade and that he needed to move Greene before one of those two came in. Also a very unlikely scenario but maybe Greene was moved to make room for Marquis, Cubs pay 3ish mil, as they probably want one guy in their rotation that they know can go 180 innings and be able to go every 4-5 days, as they will likely being trying out multiple guys in the rotation with varying success and they probably need/want to not worry about at least one of the slots in the rotation, also Marquis will at least be a type B next year and they could potentially get at least a pick out of him as well.

I doubt they have any interest at all in Marquis. I could definitely see them having even more interest in Theriot/Cedeno now. I think Cedeno would make the most sense to be the one to go.

This is why the Cardinals win championships and we are the butt end of all the jokes.

For the record the Cubs have won the last two division championships and the Cardinals haven't. The Cardinals may do somethings better than we do, but trading for a guy like Khalil Greene isn't it.

Yeah, they were pretty good last year. Do you even know who they gave up to get Greene?

The Cardinals have won 10 World Series titles since our last one. Division champions don't mean squat, and the people that brag about them are the people whose teams got swept in the first round.

This is such a Cardinals move, picking up a guy with tons of potential when his value is at its absolute lowest. Not that I completely agree with Meph that Greene is an uber-stub, but I think Greene will have a really really good year with St. Louis.

2 relief prospects.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say that he meant that the Cardinals are more fiscally responsible and have done a good job of acquiring undervalued players. You know, Cardinals pixie dust.

You bet your ass it's a better move than things we do. It's going to be one of the best moves (by any team) of the offseason. I would rather have traded for Greene than resigned Dempster, and that debates not even close. The Cardinals have what? 9 WS wins to our 2? And won one of them three years ago...

From the New York ***&ing Post? Kind of hard to judge the trade without knowing exactly what was traded. If this trade did happen, nobody has a clue what was exchanged and whether it was a good deal or not. To make a statement saying "this is why the Cardinals win championships..." without any clue of whether the trade happened or what it was for is ignorant beyond words.

who did the cardinals even have at SS last year? khalil might have only cost them a win or two with his sub-600 ops

The Cards had a bum that only put up a .690(ish) Ops. Now they got a guy that put up a .599 for almost 3X the cost. Good move.

You mean, "He who must not be named."

You're completely lost here. What they got doesn't matter. What Greene did doesn't matter.

This is why it has always been pointless to argue with you. The magic Mepho dust says that a .599 OPS at $6.5MM is a good bargain for unknown players. Now you can see why most people don't take you seriously, or even bother to reply to your posts.

What exactly is it about Greene that you think he can have such a turn around? He has never hit for a high average, OBP, OPS, SLG and he K's a ton. Is it just the fact the Cardinals got him and they seem to have a knack for turning mediocre, at best, players into studs?
