Sorry to have to post this... so depressing.

Has anyone received their refund for their Game 5 tickets? Does anyone have any information on when/how refunds will take place?

Jim Hendry will come to your house, hand you a check, and kick you in the nuts.

You will then thank him and make an appointment for the same time next year.

While these jokes cracked me up, I do really want some information about these refunds. I have about $500 charged on my credit card, and in this economy, every little bit helps. Info please!

You have to mail your tix in before they'll send you a refund. They suggest a tracking service to prove they received them. Then I guess they credit you somehow.

An email response from the Cubs Ticket Office:

A refund will be automatically credited back on the purchase card in the near future.

I got a similar notice for game 4 at Dodger Stadium this morning:

Hello, this is Ticketmaster Customer Service with an important alert for your upcoming event. Los Angeles Dodgers Division Series, Home Game 2, scheduled at Dodger Stadium with a time and date to be announced, has been cancelled.

Your credit card will automatically be credited the ticket price and convenience charges, and should post to your account within 7 to 10 business days. Please note, the $4.10 per order processing fee and any ticketFast or UPS delivery charges are non-refundable.

I just called the Cubs, who directed me to this page:

http://mlb.mlb.com/mlb/tickets/ps_refund_2008.jsp#cubs

Chicago Cubs

If the game numbered hereon is not played, this ticket may be eligible for a refund or credit of the dollar value indicated on the front of this ticket.

Please see front of ticket to determine what ticket type you have for applicable policy:

SEASON TICKETS: Season ticket holder of record will automatically receive a credit to their 2009 season ticket account. This ticket has no cash value.

MLB and BROADCAST TICKETS: Tickets issued by MLB and through their Broadcast Partners Offices marked "MLB" on the front of the ticket will receive an automatic credit for any unplayed postseason games. MLB/Broadcast Partner's tickets SHOULD NOT be returned and will have no cash value.

CLUB TICKETS: Tickets issued through any of the Participating or Non-Participating Major League Clubs marked "CLUBS" on the front of their ticket will receive an automatic credit from the Club that issued the tickets. Club tickets SHOULD NOT be returned and will have no cash value.

INDIVIDUAL TICKETS: Individual ticket holders must send the entire ticket along with their name, address, and daytime phone number to:

Chicago Cubs Ticket Office

1060 West Addison

Chicago, IL 60613

The Chicago Cubs will not be responsible for mailed tickets not received, unless proof of receipt by the Chicago Cubs is provided. Failure to claim said refund by November 30, 2008, will constitute waiver of all right to any refund and/or credit will be deemed an irrevocable assignment of said rights including the right to a refund of any amount paid for this ticket to the Chicago Cubs. We recommend register mail or other tracking services.

so I have to print my e-tickets and send them to the Cubs to get a refund? The Cubs are killing trees for no purpose whatsoever? If I cared more about the environment, I'd be even more pissed.

The way I understand it is if you chose the print at home option, your credit card will automatically be refunded minus any fees.

yeah, I skimmed it too quickly the first time. I think that's right.

Where are you folks interpreting this from? I don't see any language that leads me to believe there are automatic refunds available for individual tickets printed at home.

"Thank you, sir. May I please have another?"

I was under the assumption the refund was automatic and you didn't have to send your tickets back. I never even picked up my game five tickets from fed ex.

They had the information up prior to their elimination, then took it down. Last year, though, only the NLCS and print at home tickets were refunded. Game 4 NLDS hard tickets had to be mailed in.

I don't really trust any policy until they put it up on cubs.com, but I wouldn't assume that you'd automatically get a refund for game 5 tickets.

My print-at-home NLCS tickets last year were automatically refunded minus fees.

I love how unclear they make things:

cubs.com[/url]"]Online Purchases through Tickets.com or cubs.com:

For fans who purchased tickets online directly through Tickets.Com or cubs.com for Cubs Division Series Home Game 3 or Any League Series Games to be played at Wrigley Field, you will receive an automatic credit to the original credit cards used for purchasing the tickets. These credits will appear on your credit card statement no later than October 17th, 2008

"Season," "Broadcast," "MLB," "Club" and "Individual" Ticket Designations:

Tickets that are labeled "Season" on the front of the ticket have no cash value. Refunds will be sent to the Cubs Season Ticket holder on record. If a season ticket holder opted to receive a refund, we will attempt to credit the refund in the same manner of payment used to purchase the tickets.

Tickets that are labeled "Broadcast," "MLB" or "Club" on the front of the ticket have no cash value and should be returned to the place of purchase for a refund.

Tickets that are labeled "Individual" on the front of the ticket can be refunded by sending the tickets to the Chicago Cubs Ticket Office at 1060 West Addison, Chicago, IL 60613-4397. Entire tickets must be sent, along with your name, address, and daytime phone number.

All refunds will include a refund for the ticket price, facility fees and per ticket fees. The Chicago Cubs will not be responsible for mailed tickets not received, unless proof of receipt by the Cubs is provided. Failure to claim said refund by Nov. 30, 2008, will constitute a waiver of all right to any refund and/or credit will be deemed an irrevocable assignment of said rights including the right to a refund of any amount paid for this ticket to the Chicago Cubs. The Cubs recommend sending tickets via certified mail or other tracking services.

Only pay attention to the first part.

Has anyone received their refund for NLCS tickets yet?

If not, could you post when you do get it so I know when I should be expecting mine. Being the lowly college student I am... the missing $150 from my bank account doesn't feel great. Thanks!

Just called the Cobs. The lady said you do not have to mail anything back (because I said I wanted to drive them over and not put them in the mail). After asking me if I paid by credit card and me saying yes, she said it would be refunded automatically by Thursday. If you do not recieve a refund by Thursday, call the cobs - (773)404-cubs(2827).

edit - I am going to wait until friday to check my account, my guess is it might not show on your account until the next day.
