I love the Cubs, and I love Eddie Vedder, but this song gets me about as pumped as Eternal Flame by the Bangles.

 

I don't think anyone would classify it as a "pump-up song." If that's what you were expecting, I could see why you'd be disappointed.

I guess your right. Ive been a long time Pesarl Jam fan, and I guess when I heard Vedder was writing a song for the Cubs, I was expecting more of an Evenflow or Hail Hail than a Black or Elderly Woman.

Wouldn't feel right for the Cubs. A good old fashion sing-along-folksy-type of song is just right for the Cubs.

 

btw - I can't find the live version of it that Vedder recently did. They took it down on bleedcubbieblue.com. damn...

Meaning no disrespect or anythin but I would love to hear the Clancy Brothers and Tommy Makem cover this tune. Makes me want to hoist a pint in a dark, woodsy bar and join in in a soggy way...

The video is the Comcast montage, but the audio is the live version of the song. The original audio was not live and was synced up to the video better (e.g. "When Ernie Banks said 'Let's play two' ..." was synced up to a video of Banks)

When I first heard it, I agreed with you. But honestly after listening to it a few times, I like it a lot, it has really grown on me.
