Thanks for dropping by, Len; it's been awhile. This was a memorable week, between Z's no-no and clinching early. Too bad it wasn't a game I could watch on TV (in North Carolina FOX was televising the Twins-Rays game instead), but I was able to do the next best thing, listening to Pat and Ron call it on XM radio and then watch the post-game coverage on WGN TV. At least it was nice to clinch it on the field rather than in the locker room this year.

I love sabermetrics. I can't drop in too much of it because many of the stats aren't considered mainstream and I don't want to make this a college course in mathematics. A lot of it is over my head, but I LOVE that really smart people are making an effort to tell us what's really going on. Our eyes lie to us all the time. The data doesn't lie if used properly.

Signing off for the night. Disappointed TreyZ didn't reply. I was hoping we'd have a fun back and forth, but he chose not to I guess. I honestly enjoy the banter with my critics because it's refreshing to hear someone's unfiltered opinions. I honestly mean that. I don't hide from criticism. Comes with the job and keeps me grounded. I'm fortunate to have the best job in sports and I NEVER take it for granted.

See you all tomorrow on WGN.

Awesome. It's a true statement, and one that, even announcers who actually believe it, would be hesitant to say.

Keep up the great work.

Voice of silk! That made me laugh. You're my favorite poster ever...I'll gladly accept "his voice doesn't annoy me." That's all I'm looking for.

Well, be on the lookout for Lennert Dumbledore-Kasper Jergins in a few years.

Tough break for Matt Murton, Jack Bauer and Bob Sanders.

Len, I grew up listening to Harry and Steve and I can honestly say you guys are the best Cub broadcasting duo I've ever heard --- and that's no knock on the combo of Harry and Steve.

Keep up the great work.

I plan on having about 17 kids. Their time will come.

Thanks for giving a shoutout to the fans on NSBB, Len! :hello: :-)) I love watching you and Bob and WGN and love your big calls. Shame you couldn't call this game today, and it's a shame you won't be on TV during the playoffs :(

I love Len and Bob in the booth. Joy to listen to.

But since he did say that he likes both positive and negative feedback...Len's homerun call could use some work, and Bob needs to stop with the random swipes toward Soriano.

Other than that though, I hope they're around in the Cub's booth for a long, long time.

Len, if you are still hanging around by chance, will you be in on the radio booth with Pat and Ron during the playoffs?

Hey there, last thing...really need to go.

On the HR call, I don't have one. I don't intend on getting one. I believe every HR is different. The risk is that I could mess it up, but the reward for me is that every one is different. Some surprise me, some are no-doubters. I like to call them accordingly. Again, it's a personal preference. I also like to wait until I know it's gone. I'd rather build up to the HR as opposed to get too excited too soon for a warning track shot. I'm always looking to improve and make my calls and especially HR calls better. No question about that...I've had some that I felt could have been better. I just feel like if I fall back on something too much, the call becomes too routine and therefore, to me, not as exciting. That's just me. There are some GREAT HR calls out there. I just don't want to force it. I mean, other than getting excited, I don't feel the need to "craft" a clever line. I think the HR itself is exciting. And to overdo it would be to try to take the spotlight and that's not my bag.

Awesome.

And thanks for acknowledging me on the concourse this year at Minute Maid! Keep up the great work.

Again, you're awesome. I've never felt you've needed a home run call. I think the sudden excitement that you express is just how fans feel when someone hits a home run, and anything else just makes it seem like you'd be reading from a script. Keep up the great work.

What happened to your "Outta Here" call you used so often in 2005? You should bring that back one more time this week as a shoutout to NSBB :D

My only complaint is that it's been too long since the debut of this look:

I personally wish that they brought this look back:

(Sorry Len, I know you probably wish such pictures were destroyed, but it's waaaay too good of a look!)

Jeez, you would think Bob would fix his hair before a broadcast. :)

good deal. i kinda feel bad for those that have to sit through whole seasons of, "chopper two-hopper", or "that's a can of corn"(wtf does that mean anyway?)

...although BB's "buggywhip" and "sneaky power" are classic

Just let the emotions flow naturally. The worst thing about any given HR call is the need to do it a certain way, which just ends up making it sound completely fake.

Last year he did coverage for Comcast SportsNet during the playoffs.

i agree with you 100%, but on the other hand, me and my girlfriend probably reference your "ATTA BOY JIMMAY, WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE" call at least 5 times a week. i know you were honoring brickhouse, but that call is probably my favorite call in cubs history.

Swung on, BELTED!

That does make me miss Sammy, though.

Hey Len, thanks for dropping by. You do a great job in the booth.

Now that I've kissed your butt, can you hook me up with some World Series tickets? Bleacher seats would be perfect. Thanks in advance.
