Emmanuel Lewis, indeed. I fixed that. Funny, but I never even watched that show. Maybe I need a day off.

As to other questions: Fukudome won't see much playing time; Howry may be getting back into good graces; Lou says he isn't sure what you're going to get from young relievers; Gaudin maybe by the end of the week or the end of this weekend.

scary time

I guess he's happier knowing exactly what kind of Howry you can get from Howry.

But he doesn't walk guys!!

Howry doesn't deserve another shot at ANYONE'S good graces. I don't get what Lou is thinking on this.

So is the typical lineup going to have a Cedeno/Fontenot platoon at second and DeRo in right the rest of the way?

I hope not. After we clinch, I want Fukudome to play every game the rest of the way to try and fix whatever the heck is wrong. If he doesn't get it going during that time, then he's a bench player for the entirety of the playoffs.

It was around this time last year that Lou said Kendall would be his starting catcher down the stretch and in the playoffs. He partially flip-flopped on that one, but Lou is like any other manager who likes to rely on the crutch of a proven veteran. That way, if the proven veteran fails, they can say I gave the ball to a guy that's done it before, you can't blame me.

Do you think that the Cubs are basically shutting Fukudome down for the season, hoping he dedicates his offseason to making adjustments and coming back revitalized next season or are the Cubs essentially giving up on him? I'm guessing the former based on his contract, but if its the latter will the Cubs be searching for a new RF this offseason?

I also wonder if they'd work him out in centerfield and look for a RF.
