Are you guys really upset with Samardzija because of one hard hit ball and a couple mistakes with control?

There are plenty other reasons to not be cool with him, but this outing wasn't even that bad

Bullpen is beginning to worry me with Howry being Howry, Shark not being Shark, Gaudin being hurt, and Cotts sucking.

I'm pretty sure the problem is that Shark is being Shark.

He had only given up 1 earned run in his previous 10 outings (10.1 innings) before tonight. So one bad outing has people saying he is no good?

Well I've been skeptical of him all along. I don't see how a guy can go from atrocious in AA to good in the majors in like 2 months. He hasn't looked sharp his last few outings that I've seen.. flaling being in the count a lot.

the only problem with shark is that Lou will pull him after he gives up a seeing eye single or something

He's been fine

shut up people

He's like our 4th best reliever in the pen, I'm fine with him

The guy had 13 appearances in August (13 IP) and gave up ZERO runs and now with a 10 run lead he gives up a few runs and suddenly maybe he should be left off the playoff roster. Unbelievable.

Because his secondary pitches and control and mechanics improved.

I may be wrong, but I believe they were limiting the pitches he could throw (not pitch count, but types of pitches) early on in the minors and as he moved up, he started throwing more. Raisin or O_O could probably give more info since they pay much more attention to the minors than I do.

Well yeah, the leaving him off the playoff roster thing was kind of silly. His control has not been good lately though, and that's a big part of why he struggled in the minors and why he was dominant when he first came up with the Cubs.

Didn't he also add a pitch? or at least refine one?

Well that's my point, his control has not been good lately.

He added his split last offseason and it improved during the season and became a legit out pitch by his last starts at AA. He also has refined his slider quite a bit.
