When you are 27 games over .500, you're not going to mess with the lineup very much. No way Piniella takes him out of the 3 hole now, although it should have happened a month and a half ago.

I doubt Lee in the 3 hole is the glue that is holding this team together. I don't see how it could hurt.

Ryan Theriot actually hits into double plays at a higher rate than Lee. Theriot just hasn't had as many opportunities.

Ryan Theriot isnt hitting 3rd.

No one is suggesting that Theriot should be hitting third.

And to be honest hitting into a lot of DPs isnt the end of the world is you are doing everything else right. Vlad actually has more DPs than Lee, but then again Vlad's OPS is a career low .847

Now I wouldn't be against trying to steal third and hoping for a bad throw.

Obviously it didn't happen but this would be a bad idea as well. High likelihood that Reed gets thrown out which would mean Dempster would lead off the next inning, which wouldn't be good.

This catcher is 4 for 18 at throwing out runners after throwing out Theriot earlier in the game. Not a high % move, but if you are going to try to have someone steal third, I'd rather have done it in that situation

I know this is late but...

It's still not worth it when you have the risk of the pitcher leading off with a virtual automatic out the next inning.

Wow. Volquez just K'd Ankiel and Glaus to leave them loaded.

2-0 Reds going to bottom of 6th.

Let's get some runs here guys.

Well, that's kind of what is inferred by cheapseats.

Ball 1 on Kosuke looks like the exact same pitch that rung up Fontenot in the 9th last night.

Different home plate ump.

I really wish Soriano would have played that triple better. Things might have turned out differently.

and we'd still have no runs. gotta score to win.

We are channeling up every frustrating performance by the Cubs this year.

At first we were getting lots on and not hitting with RISP. They we were hitting weak balls and not getting good contact on the ball. Now we are hitting liners right to people.
