Ryan Braun out of the brewers lineup again. I wonder how bad hes hurt. Is the DL a possibility?

I'll take it.

Cards-Fish still in rain delay.

Radar still looks like pretty hard rain for awhile. Just shut it down, umps!

They've got a much better chance of catching the Crew than they do of catching us. I'll go ahead and hope for it.

I'm personally torn on this.... I'd much rather see the Cardinals go away, due to the fact that they really have no business being here altogether.

Secondly, I think I'd prefer to see the WC come from the NL East. Part of me really doesn't feel all that comfortable about facing the DBacks in the NLDS, assuming they win the NL West. The whole Dunn, C Young, Drew, Johnson, Webb, Haren combination just doesn't sit well with me... Having the Dbacks vs. the NL East winner would seem to play out better in my world, especially if it goes 5 games with all the coast to coast travel.

I like the idea of an NLDS against either Philly, the Mets, or the Fish a lot more than I like it against the DBacks.

PLUS.... in that scenario, the Brewers don't make the playoffs, and there's no worry about us facing them in the NLCS (assuming we were to get there). I know what we did to the Brewers two weeks ago, but they still do scare me enough.

In conclusion, I guess what I'm saying is that I think I'll be rooting for any NL East team to beat any NL Central team (except the Cubs), thus propelling the Cubs to the division championship, and an NL East team to the WC. Make sense?

Getting back ever so briefly to the debate about whom to root for or root against... I'm even more firmly hoping that an NL East team takes the WC.... I just saw something about Gallardo being cleared to throw off a mound, and mentioning possibilities of him being back in September...I would not like the thought of him being in that rotation in a playoff series.

Hah, Boston was up 12-2 on the Rangers. Rangers have come back in an inning and scored 8. Awesome.

If the Rangers could just get some pitching, they'd be a damn good team.

Downright scary. Theres rumors that they'll be persuing Sabathia pretty hard in the offseason, although hes made it very clear that he wants to play for one of the LA teams.

There's been quite a few rumors about the Rangers being one of the potential suitors for Ben Sheets, too. The proximity to Louisiana and the fact he wouldn't have to hit would be big selling points, so I could see it happening.

Braun figures to be ready to play by the start of the Dodgers series, but he's still "day-by-day"...since these games aren't really all that important, the Brewers are being extra-cautious. Then again, they've always been pretty secrective on injury info -- a couple of years ago it was revealed that Geoff Jenkins played the last two months of the season with a broken pelvis, and no one was told until the end of the season.

Seriously, if the Cubs had a 10 run lead in the first and blew it, I don't know how I'd react

16-14 Rangers now.

I think it bears repeating just because, you know, it bears repeating.

Red Sox were up 10-0 in this game.

Marlon Byrd 5-5 now.

Remember those Murton for Byrd rumors???

Remember when we thought we'd be getting ripped off on the deal? :(

I remember a lot of Murton for ________ rumors. We got exactly what we needed for him in the end.

In the 4th innning the Red Sox had a 99.7% chance of winning...

I looked up Byrd's numbers a few weeks ago. He wasn't very good then. It's amazing what a few good weeks can do for a part-time player.

Just looked it up again. On July 23rd, he had a .707 OPS.

Going into the game tonight, it was .838. That's thanks to a .474/.556/.773 line so far in August. 5 for 5 tonight is probably going to drive that total OPS up near .860 or .865. Wow.

Cards radio net was saying the game was probably going to be called.

But now the tarp is off the field and they appear to be getting the field ready.

EDIT: KTRS now says it's game on at 9:30.

Blah, first Padres batter of the game hit a ball to dead center and Cameron caught it with his back against the wall. Second better hit a blooper that Cameron made a sliding catch on.

I agree with wanting to see an NL East team win the WC... just doesn't seem that feasible to me. I'd be happy to see it happen, though.

I guess that's a reason to root for the Marlins tonight. Eh. We'll see what happens.

The Marlins happen to be that 1 NLE team Id just assume not win the WC.

Just as soon.

You'd rather face the D'Backs than the Marlins?

EDIT - Nevermind, just saw the "E" after NL.

I'd agree with you on that. I'd have no problem with the Mets and Phillies finish 1-2 in that division, with the 2nd place team being the WC. The Mets or Phils don't scare me nearly as much as the Brewers and/or DBacks.

Granted, there's a good chance that the DBacks would beat the NL East winner, and the Cubs would have to face them in the NLCS if they were to advance.... but I would much rather go Mets/DBacks or Phillies/DBacks to get to the WS than to go DBacks/Brewers.
