Oilers just stand there and look at every loose puck.

They are right in the middle of the playoff race. They are just such a roller coaster of a team. Lose 10-1 one night, win 2-1 the next. But we've definitely got their number this year.

Wow, I hadn't looked at the standings in awhile.

If you exclude Anaheim, who is five games back of the Blackhawks but with five more games played, the Blackhawks have nobody relevant within nine points of them either way.

Yeah, kind of makes these regular season games feel pointless.

Outstanding.

They are starting to crank it back up again. 7 points behind Detroit again, right?

They've been slumping lately (although they won last night.) We have a shot, a slim one but a shot.

Well got home a couple hours ago and watched the game start to finish (no commercials thank God).

Here are my observations:

1ST PERIOD

- KANE NEEDS TO CHECK... I can't stand watching him get cheap shotted time after time when he has maybe ONE career hit. Patrick, it's OK to check... it's a part of hockey.

- So many golden chances saved by Patrick ROYloson.

- Kane is getting smashed and no one is sticking up for him... but hell, Campbell gets hit... and Walker fights someone. You gotta know and stick up for your star players.

- Byfuglian/Wisniewski had two SICK hits.

2ND PERIOD

- NICE rip by Barker on the PP.

- HOLY [expletive]... Are we actually winning faceoffs this period?

- ROYloson no mas.

- LOL @ Edmonton's clearing attempts.

3RD PERIOD

- CHICAGO BLACKHAWKS

This was an awesome game to watch, anyone else have thoughts on it?

I wonder if being cheap shot as often as Kane does and very few people stick up for him tells us what we should know about what Hawks teammates actually think about with Kane? Same goes for Brian Campbell.

Agree. On that one Wiz hit---can't think of the Oiler name but he was crushed in open ice---I swear Wiz hit him so hard he had to go back to the locker room and change his pants.

Otherwise, the Hawks wanted this game and they took from the Oilers. Very good win.

I'm gonna miss the game tomorrow night on account of business travel. Well, actually I should be home in time to catch the 3rd. Calgary is strong. Will be a good test.

From what I've gathered reading between the lines from what the players have been saying, Campbell is the defacto captain of the team and Kane is an cocky little annoying kid, they didn't say it in so many words, but thats what the dynamic is.

It wouldn't surprise me at all if that is the case. You don't get respect from anyone, especially teammates, by punking out and carving guys up when they check you.

I don't mean to be overly harsh on the guy. I'm glad we have him. But he continually gets muscled right off the puck. He is going to have to evolve into a stronger, tougher player if he's going to continue to improve.

Don't forget, we've played one less game than the wings and in March/April we have 15 of 22 games at home. February is Detroits big month of home games so if we can keep the distance the same throughout February then IMO we have more than just a slim shot.

I think you guys are reading too much into it. Kane is a small, skilled player, so he's just plain going to attract a lot of cheap shots. They can't all be stood up for because you have to play a hockey game in between.

I actually agree in some ways with both arguments. I bet Kane is a cocky prick... but last night Campbell got hit completely clean and Walker went after the guy. Kane got cheap shotted 3-4 times in the 1st alone and nothing happened.

I saw a Hawk player get totally taken down in the middle of the ice with the puck -- no call.

A few minutes later, a Oiler got taken down with the puck......tripping penalty.

I'm not going to cry foul or anything, but that seemed like a pretty obvious double standard to me, in favor of the Oilers.

I was wrong, it is a 3 games in FOUR days trip for the Flames. They should be nice and tired, but glad to be home... I still think the Hawks win and go 11-0-0 against Canadian teams.

Khabibulin vs Flames: 2-0

We are 10-0-0 against Canadian teams this year and I think we beat a good (tired - 3 games in 4 nights, this is the 3rd game) Flames team and go 11-0-0 againts Canadia.

Hawks win 5-2.

Again, I have to TiVo this one =( So I'll post my thoughts after it, GO HAWKS!
