Okay, they just referenced the NHL rulebook, I think it was 75.8 or 78.5. Apparently they can do that if the linesman tells the referee about a four-minute penalty.

Yea... it's legit... BUT... the refs freaking looked at the jumbotron after the Sharks cried their eyes out... that's really stupid. The linesman CAN'T call the double-minor.

 

After looking at the jumbotron, they asked the player to come out to see if he was bleeding. They can't do that on a jumbotron replay, they needed to see blood on the ice or it's just a 2 min minor.

They can't do it unless the linesman is calling for more than a minor, and they had to call Cheechoo over to look for blood. That means the linesman wasn't sure if it was a minor or a double-minor.

There was 2+ minutes of no stoppage of play.

 

Kane highsticked Cheechoo... they called it on Versteeg... goal disallowed... should be freaking 2-0 Hawks.
