Flaherty struck out, it was a WP and the ball got lodged in the umpire's protective gear. Flaherty got over to first and was safe. After a few minutes, the umps decided that Flaherty was out on "umpire's interference." If it doesn't touch the ump, it would easily have gone to the backstop and Flaherty would have been safe at first. What the hell?
