It makes them worse. Wise is a better hitter against RHP, Anderson a better hitter against LHP, and both are much better defenders.

Griffey can hardly play the OF, let alone center. Chi's DH situation is jammed with Konerko and Thome splitting time there. Swisher is having an off year, but he's the future in CF.

 

And the Reds just assured themselves of two months of Corey Patterson starting and leading off. Terrible all around.

That appears to be the case, if Anderson isn't included, I expect him to play CF vs. LH'ers. I don't understand the move, to be honest. They need a SP and a reliever before an aging slugger.

I don't know. He still has $24 million left on his contract over the next 2 years. White Sox would have to pick up quite a bit of that to get him traded.
