According to the scroll on ESPNews, Hanley Ramirez says he would be open to being traded from the Marlins. Dare we give them more arms to go with Mitre and Pinto?

God what was he thinking when he signed that contract. At that price, and for that many years under control, he is ARGUABLY the most valuable player in the majors.

I fixed your statement, because you can make the case for Albert Pujols.

He eventually will probably become a 40/40 guy. He's a stud and there is no chance anyone has the sources to trade for him.

Hanley's contract isn't as affordable as I remember, Florida will probably want out of it eventually.

If we were to try for it, Theriot, Pie, Castillo, Vitters, Marshall? That's quite a haul, although Hanely will definitely demand quite a haul.

That's a start, but honestly we'd probably need a lot more. Hanely is probably the first person managers across the league would want to build there team around. I really don't think the cubs would have enough, but that definitely might at least get them thinking a little.

Right now, he's on pace for 37/37, so it's not much of a reach to think he could get 40/40 this year.

Him and Grady Sizemore are both 40-40 candidates this year. I find that exciting

fun question - if the red sox could turn back the clock, would they opt to not do the hanley/a. sanchez for beckett deal?

Beckett has the stuff to be elite, as was evident last year, but he's still sketchy, as is evident by his first year in boston as well as this year.

Hanley has been nothing short of amazing ever since he left. I don't think they're kicking themselves on that one, per se, but I think they'd love to take it back seeing where the two are at right now

Hard to say. Do they win the WS w/o Beckett? They seem to be doing fine w/ a relative hole at SS right now. And w/o Beckett, who else is in their rotation (serious question, now that Bucholz is up, I'm not that familiar with the ML ready arms in their system)? Seems to me they need an elite pitcher more than they need more offense right now.

If I were the Marlins and Hendry called me, the first name out of my mouth would be Soto

The Cubs still wouldn't have a shot, even if they started with Soto and Vitters.

my point is why would they ask for unproven cheap minor leaguers when they could ask for proven, cheap major leaguers? it's not like they want to rebuild again. or do they....
