Sharpie day sounds like the worst idea since .357 Magnum day at The Cell

They had sharpie day last year too.

so you're saying they are slow learners

If Lou's ever seen you start, you will be a long man, and like it. If not, you can pitch in the 7th, 8th, or 9th only

Any by "long man" you mean pitch for 2 innings in a blowout and then get 10 days off.

Well when you have 4 of them, it's hard to get them all consistent work.

That home run sends Howry's ERA rocketing above 5. Good thing Wuertz was sent packing after 1 bad outing after not pitching for over a week.

Let me preface this by saying that Wuertz should be brought back up ASAP.

But he was sent down in large part because he hadn't pitched well since the middle of May. At some points in there, he had some strange usage patterns, and at other points he didn't. But he was pretty bad for about a 40 day stretch and his last 15 appearances in the majors or so.

How has he done in comparison to Howry in that stretch though?

Is there any chance we'll see Samardzija up here before September?

Bruce Miles suggested that we'll see that in another thread.

I could be mistaken, but I thought he said we may see him in Sept., not before.

I didn't pay that close attention. Its just weird how much he's been jerked around considering he's been pretty consistently solid for a few years now.

3rd straight CG win for CC Sabathia in his first 3 games as a Brewer. Wow.

Anyone know his PCs in those games??

Someone said 106 tonight I believe. I think he was around 115 in another?

That's what I thought too.

Oh, I didn't see the word "before" in Vance's post.

How come some 4-run leads are considered "saves" and some are not??

(there are some 4-run saves, right?)

There can be a +3 run save if the tying run is in the on deck circle. (I think)

If the tying run is on deck than it is a save situation. So bases loaded with a 5 run lead is would be a save situation

- If a pitcher enters the game in the 8th with the lead being 3 runs or less and pitches a scoreless inning and then his team increases the lead beyond save parameters, the pitcher can still get the save if he finishes the game.

- If a pitcher enters the game in the 9th with the tying run either at the plate or on deck and finishes it, he can get the save.
