Good luck to Fonzie. Hopefully he looks like he hasn't missed a beat and will be donning a cubs jersey by Tuesday or Wednesday.

1030 Arizona time = 12:30 Central right?

That is correct for these months where everybody else is on DST. So another 4 hours approximately until the Mesa game starts from now.

Probable Starters:

Daytona: RHP Billy Muldowney (Daytona & Peoria: 5-2, 2.94 ERA, 64.1 IP, 49 K/17 BB)

Peoria: RHP Jose Pina (Peoria & Boise: 0-0, 2.61 ERA, 10.1 IP, 13 K/6 BB) & RHP Jay Jackson (Peoria & Boise: 1-0, 3.54 ERA, 20.1 IP, 30 K/4 BB)

Boise: RHP Marcus Hatley (0-3, 6.50 ERA, 18 IP, 14 K/12 BB) & RHP Harol Tolentino (2-0, 3.63 ERA, 22.1 IP, 11 K/14 BB)

Mesa: RHP Julio Pena (2-0, 1.89 ERA, 19 IP, 9 K/4 BB)

Jose Pina is expected to go 2-3 innings before Jay Jackson takes over for Peoria. Marcus Hatley is expected to start for Boise but he and Harol Tolentino have been piggybacking the past month or so.

Not sure if his day is over (just started listening to the broadcast) but Pina has thrown 2 perfect with 5 GO-1 FO.

Brandon Guyer just got an RBI double to make it 1-0 as Jovan Rosa (who had walked) scored.

ETA: Pina will likely start the 3rd.

Pina's final line: 3 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 0 K, 7 GO-2 FO.

Jay Jackson should start the 4th inning.

Jay Jackson just struck out the first two guys in the 5th inning, that's 4 in a row going back to the 4th inning. Aww, a pop out on an 0-2 pitch to end the 5th inning.

Jackson: 2 IP, 1 H, 1 ER, 0 BB, 4 K, 1 HR,

22.1 pro innings: 34 K/4 BB,

Kitt Kopach gets the start for Mesa. It's his first appearance since 2006, he had shoulder season in the offseason before 2007.

Alfonso Soriano is DHing and leading off for Mesa. And he flew out to right field in his first at bat.

Trying to figure out if DHing is a good sign or a bad sign that he might come back tonight. It could be good in that Lou doesn't want him to tire so he can play a game tonight. It could be bad because they are expecting him to rehab for a couple of days and are telling him to worry about only hitting today.

It's common for rehabbing position players to DH when they first start rehabbing. Despite what Lou says, Soriano needs a few games. I would hope he'd at least get 3 and join the Cubs when they leave Arizona.

Tonight? Seriously?

There is no way the Cubs organization would try to play him in 2 games in the same day after being out for 6 weeks.

Everything I have seen points to a thursday return. Small chance of possibly wednesday.

*Edit*

Just saw Lou's comments. I still say it would never happen though.

Kopach goes 1 inning in his first appearance since 2006 - 0 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 0 K, 2 GO-1 FO. Julio Pena followed him with a scoreless 2nd.

Soriano should lead off the 3rd inning for Mesa.

Bench-clearing incident in the Peoria game after Brandon Guyer was HBP following a long HR by Luis Bautista (and Guyer earlier in the game).

Lots of jawing and yelling. Guyer getting into the jawing. Audy Santana and Julio Castillo for the Chiefs really getting into it. No punches thrown.

Has anyone heard anything about Cashner's pro debut yet? Or did I miss it somewhere?

He hasn't started yet. He's done at least one bullpen session in Mesa, so I suspect he (and second rounder Aaron Shafer) will make their debuts very soon.
