One good thing about the starters lately is that they have been going much deeping into ballgames, leaving the bullpen mostly rested.

Our starting pitching has been a bright spot over the past couple weeks. Hitting and relief pitching not so much.

Theriot now hitting .327 on the season.

I still can't understand how we had so many all-stars and that guy was not one of them.

He's now tied for 4th in the NL in average with Holliday.

And 6th in OBP.

You gotta give the Cubs credit where it's due. Many Cubs fans were outraged that the Cubs were not addressing their SS issue in the offseason. So far he's looked really good this year. Still has horrible range at SS and tends to make dumb decisions from time to time, but overall he's been more than fine.

Agreed. I'd say he's been much better than more than fine though. Among all SS in baseball, he has the best average and the best OBP. The power clearly isn't there, but he's still 12th in baseball in SLG.

Especially when you consider how much he makes, Theriot is having a great year.

It's always nice to wake up to see the Cubs winning.

I actually had a dream last night where I checked the score of the Cubs game and they were winning 4-0. Granted that was over the Padres and not the Astros, but they're still up 4-0.

I'm hoping they take Dempster out. If we use him and Harden carefully and keep them strong, we're going to be fierce in the playoffs.

Given the team, the park and the minor bullpen struggles lately, I give Demp the 8th.

I'd let Marshall finish it out.

No thanks. This is a key inning.
