I'm still waiting for Ramirez to get hot for a week or two at a time like he's supposed to this time of year. Ain't happened yet.

Sure looks like we'll be relying on 2nd half Jason Marquis to avoid a sweep. Suuuuuuuper.

Have we ever won a game against Wandy Rodriguez? I feel like every time we see this guy, he owns us.

Maybe I'm wrong.

We're 3-4 against him lifetime, but I believe he's 3-1 against us in the last 2 years.

We won against him last July at Wrigley, but only because he happened to suck slightly more than Marquis that day.

Where is brewersbrewers? No Street for the Crew

Something is up, probably not Street

San Francisco - The Brewers definitely have some kind of trade in the works but I was just told by a club source that it is not for Oakland closer Huston Street (who is pitching badly by the way).

I'm still trying to get hold of GM Doug Melvin, who was nowhere to be found after the game. But Brevard County outfielder Darren Ford, a speedster, was pulled from the team's lineup before the game today and word was circulating there that he had been traded.

I'll see what I can find out but this might be something that's not announced until tomorrow. Stay tuned.

It could be a minor deal

San Francisco - Whatever deal the Brewers are working on, I'm told there is no plan to announce it before tomorrow. And I'm now getting word that it might be with the Giants.

If Class A Brevard County centerfielder Darren Ford is the only player involved, it would be a minor deal for either a bench player (Ray Durham?) or a relief pitcher (Jack Taschner?).

Ford, 22, is one of the fastest players in the minors. He is batting only .230 at Brevard but has swiped 48 bases in 59 attempts. He stole 67 bases last season while splitting time at Class A West Virginia and Brevard.

Hard to say right now if the deal includes more than Ford. He was scratched from the Brevard lineup today with word circulating around that club that he had been traded.

I'll follow up later today if I hear anything but this might not break until tomorrow. And it might turn out to be a minor deal. Oakland closer Huston Street blew another save today in New York and I heard the Brewers' scouting reports on him are not good.

If you take out his one start against the White Sox, he has a 2.78 ERA on the road this year. Obviously you can't take that out, but even with that in there its sub-4.00

Not that he is bad...he just never gets wins (Cubs usually play like garbage when he pitches on the road).
