Am I the only one concerned about the offense down the stretch? It's looking like we've actually downgraded our offense in RF, I don't expect Edmonds to keep up that hot pace, Theriot could come crashing to earth at any time, and you've gotta be worried about Soto tiring since Lou rarely gives him days off.

Nah, thats just biased thinking because everything is going wrong.

Not really, I've been concerned for a couple of weeks now. Our offense is better than last season, but it really significantly better?

.839 OPS in April (.380 OBP)

.808 OPS in May (.359 OBP)

.784 OPS in June (.352 OBP)

.748 OPS in July (.329 OBP)

Maybe you are on to something. Obviously the April and May numbers are completely unsustainable, but it is disheartening to see both numbers drop every month this year.

Two terrible pitchers making the Cubs look bad the last 2 nights. This is the part of the season where if ti can go wrong, it will.

Houston getting a bunch of bloop hits that plate runs, while the Cubs hit balls right at them.

How is a pither with a sub-3.00 ERA at home the last 2 seasons a terrible pitcher? Even Moehler has a 3.38 ERA at home this year.

So if we go like 29-3 in the rest of our home games, and 3-30 in the rest of our road games, will we still make the playoffs?

And because we're all in such great moods...

Blister could send Wood to DL

"With Woody, the news wasn't good," Cubs manager Lou Piniella said. "He threw today, and he's still not ready, so we're going to ride this thing out as long as we can and hope that we'll get some good results from it a few days from now. We'll close with either [Carlos] Marmol or [bob] Howry."
