Thanks for nothing Lidge.

Cubs pitching was outstanding.

YAY Cubs (other than Soto and Fukudome), Matt Holliday, Miguel Tejada, & Nate McClouth.

BOO rest of NL!!!!

Cook says hi.

tell him I said "what's up"

Russel Martin certainly didn't play poorly.

Alrght, alright, there were others... those were the ones who most stuck out in my mind. Right, though, Martin did very well defensively tonight.

He was not good. 4 hits, 3 walks in 3 innings

And we were so close to a tie to end this home field advantage madness once and for all... Now Selig will claim success and ignore the question of what he would have done in the result of a tie.

I posted the same thing elsewhere! I was SO hoping for a tie to end this sham!

Has Brad Lidge ever performed on the big stage. I can't believe Philly gave him all that money.

yes they must be irate with his 1.13 ERA, 20 saves and 0 blown saves.

Lidge of 2008=Gagne of 2005 (remember the AS Game was in The Cell)?

2003

Thank you.

My point is...Gagne was hot as a closer, only to give up a game winning HR to Garrett Anderson, and will it's not a HR, Lidge, who is hot as closer, blows the game for the NL.

Blalock.

Well that sucked, but the Cubs pitchers were awesome tonight. I hope this gets Marmol's confidence back in order after having shut down the best the AL had to offer (in addition to working through a defensive lapse).

Can we please start a "End this HFA goes to the winner of the ASG" petition and send it to Selig.

Cause, teams with HFA in the World Series are 3-2 in the last 5 world series.

And come someone PLEASE teach the NL hitters on how to hit late in games.

2005 NLCS, 2005 WS, 19-27 saves in 2007. As Gagne and others have shown, spending that much money on closers is stupid.

okay; as mariano rivera and others have shown, spending that much money on closers is smart.

i think we are all rubes for selig's plan... if the game didn't count for anything, how long is the game thread and how many people are up after midnight talking about it?

I never really used to watch allstar games until the rule changed. I'm not saying this is right by any means, but it has accomplished its goal in terms of interest with the average fan, IMO.

My bad, but my point is still there.

Nice suit Bud...WTF.

He's a multi-millionaire, and he buys from the clearance rack at Burlington Coat Factory.

The best part...it was separates. The jacket did not match the pants. Hilarious. He just oozes Wisconsin.

especially fans of contending teams... if the cubs were 38-57, i don't think a lot of people on this board would've given a crap about who won.

Of course we care who won, because we were forced to... not because it makes sense.
