Was chatting with Meph on Sunday and he threw the name out there as a target. I don't know what it would take, but I thought I'd pass it along.

I'd love to have him, but I never got much inside info from Meph. Granted, I haven't talked to him on AIM for quite a couple of months now. Of course, Greinke would be wonderful.

The Royals have this idea in their head that they'll be contending next year, so they wont be doing much selling. I remember earlier in the season their was the Meche rumor, which he laughed off, pretending he was happy in KC.

I would think Meche would be more likely than Grienke.

I would too, which is why I'd have no interest. Greinke is somebody I'd have interest in though. He's about to start making the big bucks in arbitration, which could entice them to trade, but he's still got a couple years before free agency.

A deal for Grienke would be pretty costly, but KC have enough holes that one could reasonably match us up with them fairly well. It depends on what year Moore is targeting that team to be competitive for.

There was that rumor late last season that we were talking to the Royals about Greinke. Something like they wanted Pie, and we wanted to move Murton, but I think it was all rumors. If it was this season, I think wed send them Pie and Murton without question.

Are you going to un-ban him?

Maybe Tim and Meph are the same person? :-k

Seriously though, when did Meph ever have any inside info? Am I missing something?

Are you going to un-ban him?

If so, it will still be a while out from now.

Why are you guys buds all of a sudden? And why was he banned in the first place?

(I always assumed it was due to the "nsbblol" thing, but I guess I was wrong.)

Does this really need to be explained? Even he agrees that he earned being banned, though he would like to be allowed back on.

Hey bud, you raised the name. I was just asking a follow-up question.

Back on topic - I doubt that Greinke is for sale, but if he is, I'd jump all over the opportunity.

Again...this was not inside info.

Meph and I were talking about Harden, Burnett and other targets. He brought up Greinke as an attractive target and I hadn't seen him mentioned around here in some time. So I started a thread to get some discussion going on the idea. I mentioned Meph because I'm not in the habit of taking any else's idea and portraying it as my own, so I sourced him in my post.

It'd be a good choice for the Cubs to get Greinke, but I don't think the Royals are thinking of parting ways with him, especially when he has shown some improvement after his battle with depression/anexiety issues.

And given with Dayton Moore's philosophy, which is pitching and defense, I doubt he will give up a young arm, but this is just me speculating. Anything is possible, I get that. But if I was the GM for the Royals, I would think Greinke would be almost untouchable, unless there is a deal that really blew me away that I may be tempted to take.

Coach I have heard they are trying to lock him up like they did Soria and the Brewers did with Braun. I don't know how true that is, but like you have hear Moore is really set on the Atlanta model. I don't think we have what it takes to trade for him.

That's one thing that been rumored around in the KC area that the Royals are wanting to lock up Greinke. Of course, there isn't anything written on stone yet, so anything is still possible. I know that KC desperately need some bats in their lineup, especially in the middle. Guillen can't do everything by himself, and unfortunately for KC, Billy Butler is looking to be a bust than a boom right now, and Mark Teahen is becoming more of a gapper player instead of that unexplained power that he showed in 2006. Although, we're already halfway through the season, and he has 9 HR's, which would round up to 18, give or take in a full season, provided he stays healthy. KC really need a 30-40 HR guy in the middle. But that's just my opinion.

Another issue that I have aganist KC is that, for some unexplained reasons, that they still tend to keep around crappy players (i.e. Pena Jr really comes into mind) instead of DFA'ing them right on the spot. His numbers is worse than Neifi Perez, which I didn't even think it was possible to be more crappier than Neifi Freaking Perez! And what's even worse is that KC franchise has a freaking bobblehead for Tony Pena Jr, who is OPS'ing .380.
