Hey everybody newbie here so i hope i dont put this in the wrong forum, if i do, please point me to the right direction. Thanks.

So me and my friends finally after about 10 years of talking about it, decided to fly to chicago to see the cubs. I cant freakin wait. We are flying in from New Orleans.

We are coming in for the Houston series i thinkit is Aug 4th, 5th , and 6th.

Ok so we need some help. We are staying at the inn of chicago which is about 6 miles from wrigley. We are some heavy drinkers so we are looking for some good bars around the area. Also What time do that gates open for the games? Also is there a good cubs store close to wrigley? i wanna pick up a jersey while i am there

Um any other help would be great. like some tips on transportation or places to eat drink and listen to music thanks guys

Like he said, there are a bunch of bars and stores right around Wrigley and in the area.

Can't tell you about food or what not being from Chicago anyways, but for transportation, you might as well just walk the six blocks, it isn't that far. If you want to go into downtown, look up the El stops, that would probably be the best.

Gates open 2 hours before game time.

I love how people from New Orleans aren't the slightest bit afraid to come out and say that they're heavy drinkers. I miss that city sometimes.

Most bars close at 2 am, 3 am on Saturdays. There are some late night (4 am, 5 am on saturdays) bars around. Closest to wrigley include Nick's Uptown and the ever-unpopular Big City Tap. And that place under the metro that you shouldn't go to. Smart Bar. it sucks.

A good 4 am place close to your hotel is Streeter's Tavern, on the north side of Chicago Ave. between State and Michigan. Be sure to enjoy the one way glass in front of the urinals.

To get to the game, take the red line. Closest stop by your hotel is the Grand stop at Grand and State, which is a couple of blocks west and a block south from the Inn of Chicago. Go north on the red line to Addison. It's two bucks a ride. Make sure you give yourself time, it's currently under construction and prone to holdups. normally it'd be about 40 minutes, including walking time, but I'd give yourself an hour at the absolute minimum, and frankly, i'd go up at least 3 hours beforehand and hang out in the neighborhood if I were from out of town anyway.

Must go-to bars in Wrigleyville are probably Murphy's Bleachers and Sluggers (ask anyone and they'll tell you where those are). if you're looking to pick up a completely sloshed recently-graduated Big Ten sorority girl after the game then add the Cubby Bear to that list.

Just a warning: you'll be totally surprised and bewildered by the packed bars just closing up shop for the night at 1:30 in order to get everyone out by 2. It weirded the hell out of me for a full year after I moved up here from New Orleans.

Enjoy!

There's so many bars around Wrigley you won't have any trouble at all finding booze.

Walk the 5 blocks to the Red Line, it'll be packed with Cub fans to & from the game and I find that in itself to be a bit of extra entertainment :)
