it's completely insane when you compare how much teams spend on players to how much they spend on guys who could potentially immensely help players.

 

would you spend 3 million dollars to get good rich hill if he were a free agent? then why wouldn't you spend a third of that to get a guy who could bring him about, while also potentially helping several other players along?

Was this common knowledge that Prior had problems with his mechanics prior to the draft? I heard that he wasn't perfect and that a few issues were noticeable, but only after he began having arm troubles.

On the contrary...I remember hearing people say that Prior had the best pitching motion coming out of college that they'd ever seen. The story changed, though, after he started getting hurt. Then all the "experts" starting changing their stories.
