It looks like Marquis will start one of the two games.

As for the other one, it's unclear. It won't be Lilly or Marshall. It very likely won't be Gallagher.

If I had to guess on the 2nd one, it would be Dempster, with them giving Zambrano an extra day off and pitching him on Thursday, and pushing Gallagher all the way back to Friday. In fact, if Dempster pitches well tonight, I think they'll go ahead and start him on Tuesday to give him 1 extra start before the All-Star Break, and then pitch Marquis on Wednesday.

It's really all up in the air at the moment though, and probably won't be decided until Monday afternoon.

any chance of us missing Volquez?

Yes, actually. The Cubs will not see Volquez in the Cincy series because he pitches Sunday. They might not see Harrang either, but for him it depends on how the Reds arrange the rotation after their off day.

My guess is that the Giants will skip somebody to give Lincecum an extra start before the All-Star Break. If they do, the Cubs will see both Cain and Lincecum again next weekend.

Believe it or not, I want to see Cain again. we couldnt touch him at his house, but in Wrigley, hopefully it will be a whole different story, and definitely a different lineup, maybe including Soriano. As for Volquez and Linecum, if we could miss them, that would be super.

I would hope Lou would skip Marquis completely, though he did pitch decently yesterday. Dempster and Zambrano could be on regular rest Tues/Wed respectively. Either Gallagher or Marquis could go Tuesday, if Lilly and Marshall both start vs. the Cards.

According to Cubs.com, Zambrano is going thursday afternoon.

ESPN.com has changed. Says Dempster, Zambrano then Lilly vs. Cincinnati, which would keep all 3 pitchers on regular rest. Some combo of Marshall, Marquis should go Fri/Sat vs. SF, then Dempster ends it on Sunday, unless Lou feels the need to allow him to be able to pitch in the AS game, then it may be Gallagher.
