I was stuck with the SF broadcast last night, but their announcers are pretty good. They had nothing but nice things to say about the Cubs when they were doing well, didn't get all bitter and mopey when the Cubs were up big, etc. It was refreshing after listening to morons like Hawk and Brennemen

I finally get a WGN game again, have to stay up way past my bedtime to watch it, and they stick us with Jason Marquis? He better not suck tonight.

Len and Bob tonight for the first time in a while

Wait . . ., what? Didn't they do last night's game - or am I going crazy???

I'm in New York so I only hear Len and Bob on WGN or on mlb.tv for home games.

Marquis pretty good against the Giants in his career, going 4-0 with an ERA in the 2s. We need a decent start from him, as it is July, and his complete collapse is just around the corner.

Greetings one and all from high on top of the mountain in Monteagle, TN !!!

Kudos to Laura, Ted Lilly and Babe DeRosa. You guys do good work !!

I know most of you folks don't remember stuff like this right off the top of your head, but the CUBS lost 30 years ago today, 2-1 to the Phillies at Wrigley Field. Randy Lerch over Dennis Lamp. Greetings one and all from high on top of the mountain in Monteagle, TN !!!

Vacation?

Not exactly. David is on vacation this week, and since I can't make the California run in 4 days by myself, I'm headed to Florida instead. Beats a poke in the eye with a sharp stick, I guess.

I gotcha. I thought you were trying to make the Thursday afternoon game in SF until I saw Tennessee.

Originally that was the plan. My sister out in Sacramento has tickets, but David has a wedding to go to on Saturday, and if we had gone to the game Thursday, he wouldn't have gotten back in time, so we scrapped the plans for the game, then he decided to the whole damned week off. Ah..... kids !!

Hey Fred, I think you should add another statistic to your list:

Cubs are 50-0 when they score more runs than the other team...0-33 when they don't.

This should be one of Marquis' "on days." This Giants team stinks at home, and we got a pretty clear picture of why last night. They don't really take a lot of pitches and hack away.
