I'll go ahead and say that Fukudome shouldnt be an all star based on numbers but he definetly makes the all star team better defensively. I just dont get Griffey getting votes like he is and that really why I hate the whole voting thing anyways. There sure are a lot of NL outfielders having a down/injury plagued year.

Griffey being up there is exactly why they should do away with fan voting. Or at least only make it a certain percentage. If the All star game decides home field advantage in the world series, it too important to be left in the hands of the fans. Especially when those fans only vote for people because they've heard of them before.

 

And this whole Aramis/Wright thing probably doesn't even matter. If Chipper can't play, they will probably both be selected. I don't care which one starts, as long as Aramis doesn't get hurt. But the NL needs more than one 3B represented, so I'm pretty sure they'd both probably go.

His defense would be a plus, but I think just the fact that he'd probably find a way on base in front of some of the bigger hitters would be the definite upside. He doesn't have to get a base hit to be effective in the all star game. Just be there and provide RBI opportunities for the heavy hitters.
