I'll report my layman's view on Samardzjia at some point -- whenever I feel like connecting to the internets.

Samardzija has had horrible control today, and normally that's a huge problem, especially against the very dangerous Alberquerque offense. He has managed to wriggle out time after time today because he has kept the ball on the ground, gotten some key double plays, gotten a key strikeout or two, and his catcher has caught two guys stealing. He's at 101 pitches through 6.

Samardzija: 6 IP, 4 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 6 BB's, 4 K's.

Holy smoke.

The AZL Cubs won 18-1 against the AZL Royals today. box

Some dude named Pie played CF and had 5 RBI's; maybe we should keep an eye on that one.

Nice to see Dwayne Kemp get his first professional hits today.

Glad Pie is playing. Hopefully he'll be back up to Iowa soon.

I wasn't able to find the minor league roster rules. How long can Hill stay on Iowa's 7-day DL?

3 of them, with 2 doubles! :D

Justin Bristow also made his debut today. It didn't go so well, but still, yay!

Can stay on the DL forever if needed. I don't think he's going to pitch in the minors anytime soon. I wonder if he will just be reassigned to Mesa officially soon.

I wish I could say how fast he was throwing today but I don't trust the gun. His FB was showing up anywhere from 90 - 94 MPH. He struggled with control, but the Isos couldn't get much good contact against him.

Some pretty good defense behind him today too, other than the dropped ball in the outfield (though they had one too, and it looked like everyone was struggling with balls hit in the air as it was bright & sunny).

Got to see 2/3 ICubs wins. It definitely helped me keep my mind off the disaster that is the Cubs/Sox series.

Caught a foul ball today too :) It was a screamer that rebounded hard off the skyboxes.

is rebel ridling a real prospect or just a guy with a cool name

He's a senior sign whom we drafted this year. He could be a real prospect, but the Cubs should start moving him up in the system before we start thinking of him as such.

maybe he's on the matt craig plan. but seriously, i have a hard time seeing how a senior sign who was drafted in the 25th round is much of a prospect unless he does something extremely unexpected.

Murdering the ball in Boise is rather unexpected.

If he can keep something like this up in Peoria later this season, he'll be on my prospect radar. For now, I'm keeping an eye on him.
