The demise of the Arizona basketball program is one of the greatest things to ever happen.

The end of that game may have been the most poorly played final minute I've seen in years. Mike Davis' squad tried to give it to Arizona. And twice in the last 30 seconds, Arizona thinks they're trailing when they're actually tied and fouls intentionally. The last one is an intentional foul and UAB almost throws the ball out of bounds without anyone touching it following the free throws.

It was just incredibly bad. And Len Elmore said at least 37 times "he had to have thought they had a different play on where you give a foul." Then at the end the pbp guy says "or for some reason thought they were trailing" and Len practically laughs it off, says that would be hard to believe and again mentions that they must have given the wrong signal or called the wrong play. Ugh

I'm not sure LewJack is going to be able to become a player at the big ten level due to his size. That's a pretty big obstacle to overcome, especially in a conference that allows defenders to punch a guy in the face as long as they're on their homecourt.

I don't think he will ever become dominant but I think he can be a 15 point scorer and top assist player. His shooting seems to need work but Keaton Grant went from a crappy 3-pt shooter to one of the Big Ten's top ones.

and then he'd be deron williams, who was dominant.

Deron Williams never even averaged 15 points per game.

i know. lewjack is a nice little player and is a good fit at purdue, but i don't think anyone should expect him to be able to get his shot off consistently. he could be top 3 in assists year in and out, though.

I don't mean to disparage Lewjack, I think he could be a 6th man on a championship caliber team, but expecting much in the way of scoring from him is a big mistake. If Purdue is ever in the situation where Jackson is scoring 12 points per game, then Painter has failed as a recruiter.

He'll be good at D, passing, and a great ball handler which we haven't had in 4 years. Scoring however I'd say he scores 12 on a hot shooting night. I see him in the 6-8pts a game range.

Yeah, there's no way in hell he ever averages 15 points per game. Like you said, 6-8 is probably a fair range for him. I think he can be a solid point guard at this level though. He's damn fast and does a tremendous job distributing the ball. I could see him being high on the Big Ten's assists leaderboard once he becomes a regular starter (which may not be until the 2010-2011 season).

He basically is going to be a shorter Kramer I think? That's what they said when I read recruiting stuff on him

During the game, I assured a friend of mine that Davis/UAB would find a way to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. I looked rather prescient when Arizona rallied to tie and then had the "last" possession. Then I saw a true first -- an opposing team looking more poorly coached than a Mike Davis team. The foul after they tied the game up, a timeout that garnered a possession where Budinger didn't touch the ball and an awful shot, and then the intentional foul (perhaps the dumbest play I've ever seen in the history of sport).

The first foul was somewhat understandable. In the huddle I'm sure they said "foul after a make" meaning foul after a made free throw when Zona would have still trailed by 1. Instead they got the rebound and putback and he was still in foul mode. Mental mistake but you can see the reasoning.

But the second one was just inexcusable. The putback tied it up. They had the bad foul but UAB missed the free throw keeping it tied. Then Arizona called another timeout before the final possession. How do you not look at the scoreboard at some point during that 5 minutes and know what the score is?

Mike Moser, formerly an Arizona 2009 commit, will decide on Wednesday. Since he decommitted, he's visited UCLA, USC, Oregon State AND Washington on the same day. Apparently Washington and Oregon are out and Oregon State is a distant third to UCLA and USC. :?

Moser picked UCLA!!!

Chris Colvin announced he coming to ISU today. Starting to get some good, young players here, especially at guard. McDermott's really impressed me with his recruiting so far. Now just get Barnes for the next year and Iowa State will have a pretty good basketball team.

Good get for you guys, I wonder if Chris wishes he would have been a little quicker with his decision though?

Agreed, it is a nice problem compared to what we had the last three classes of not being able to fill schollys.

How's BC supposed to be this year?

Tyrese Rice is pretty good, I don't think the rest of the team is though.

Probably the best test Purdue will have so far this year I'm thinking though.
