All-Star game significance and voting for Cubs

This could be a very interesting all-star game for Cubs fans this year. We currently have the best record in baseball thanks to an extreme home win record. However, even if we finish with the best record in baseball and make the WS, we won't have home field advantage unless the NL wins the All-Star game. If this could be the year, then we obviously should be taking great interest in how the AS game turns out.

 

With that in mind, will you vote less for Cubs players than you otherwise might? For example, will you still vote for Soto, or would you change your vote and vote for McCann instead to give the NL a better chance (assuming you think he's more likely to hit in the AS game, of course)? Same could go for DLee, ARam, Fuku, DeRo, and Riot. I'd like to see as many Cubs make the ASG as possible, but I want as much playing time going to the best guy at each position, and I don't know if you can call any of our guys the best in the league at their spots.

Between McCann and the guy from the Dodgers the NL is set at catcher. If Soto starts he likely gets 1 PA. Not really a big deal. The only bad part about Soto making the all star team is that he doesn't get the time off that he'll probably need by then.

 

Derosa and Theriot have no chance of starting at their respective positions. If by some strange reason they did they might not even get an AB before they were replaced with Utley and Ramirez.

Martin is less deserving than Geo. Not as good defensively, and OPSing about 70 points less.

 

If Doumit had 50 starts or so, he'd have to be your first pick. He's OPSing over 1.000 right now.

Yeah the guy is raking. If he didn't miss a couple weeks and played as much as Soto he would have stats like these .346 15 HR's 36 rbis 47 runs on the crappy offensive team of Pittsburgh.

Since the Cubs have the best record in baseball, logic would say that the NL would have the best chance if they take more players from that team :D

Just let Soto and Marmol take on the entire AL. . . . by themselves.

 

It would be a little slanted towards the NL, but I'm sure the AL loves a good challenge.
