I don't really know what to think about these things one way or another, but it is always fun to look at them especially when we are on top. As of June 6th, Espn's power rankings looked like this...1. Cubs 2. Phillies 3. Angels 4. Red Sox 5. Cardinals 6. White Sox 7. Athletics 8. Rays 9. Blue Jays 10. Brewers. One thing I notice in that is that their is 3 NL Central teams in the top 10 more then any other division.

My top 10 would look like this..

1. Boston Red Sox

2. Chicago Cubs

3. Los Angeles Angels

4. Philadelphia Phillies

5. Tampa Bay Rays

6. Oakland Athletics

7. Arizona Diamondbacks

8. Chicago White Sox

9. Florida Marlins

10. St.Louis Cardinals

How would yours look?

I don't even know what the hell power rankings are. What do these rankings mean anyways? Is it just a ranking system thought up by sports publications to tell people who they think is the best team in the majors, as if we're too stupid to figure it out in the first place? Whooptie doo. Not trying to rain on your parade, I just don't get what the significance or fascination is with power rankings

It's someone's arbitrary ranking of teams. It's entertainment. Nothing more significant than that.

What's your thinking for that? The Phillies can hammer the ball, but they pretty much have one starter.

And so do we.

Z is a stud, but outside of that Hill has been shaky, Dempster is pitching way above his head, gallagher is doing decent but nobody is expecting him to be a top notch starter his first year and then there's marquis...

Fact of the matter is though Dempster could be a an All-Star. He won't keep it up but right now that is what he is pitching like. And like someone else said when he falls Lilly either before or some point after will rise. Demp will likely go from his 2.7 now to pitching 4 in the second half and Lilly is at like 5.3 right now and should be more like 3.7 like least year. That's more of an improvement than Demp's drop. Now those are just my random numbers but I would say it will turn out pretty close to those.

we're actually enjoying the best case scenario, with Dempster holding strong and Lilly improving:
