Way too simplistic. Please change poll to "do you consider yourself a jerk, or a nice person?"

Like I said in the thread, if I catch the thing on the fly, with what would be a bare hand, I'm leaving with the thing. If I pick it up on a lucky bounce, I'll give it to a kid that might have had a chance at it, as long as his Dad isn't claiming rightful ownership.

EDIT: I voted "jerk"

Give it to a kid. There's a good chance you'll forget about the ball a week later if you keep it. The kid will have a story to tell and a baseball to show all his friends.

I think we're severely overestimating how much a ball that the average kid didn't even catch would mean to them. I'd figure that most wouldn't care much at all and forget about it the next day. Perhaps at one point the average boy would be so obsessed with baseball that he'd love it, but in 2008, the average kid at the ballpark probably isn't a huge baseball fan and they'd be far less attached to a foul ball. They've got better things to play with back at home...or even at the ballpark if they brought their Gameboy (referenced partially to sound like an out-of-touch adult).

The average adult baseball fan would probably think more of it, to be honest.

If there isn't a kid within 5 or 6 seats of me, I'm keeping it for my little guy.

Definitely if there's not a kid around, I'm keeping the ball. If there's one right beside me, though, I'll tend to turn it over to him.

My hangup is with the wording of the question. "Should" you give it to a kid? That's up to you. 'Would" I give it to a kid? Yes and I have done so before.

I won't vote in this poll as the wording does not lead me to a yes or no answer. [-(
