with derrek lee struggling this bad, its hard for our offense to really bust out. solution, derrek lee pull his head out of his ass.

I still think switching Fuku and Lee in the order, is prolly the best temp solution (othen then switching Lee and ARam). Either that, or force Lee to sit a couple of games in a row. I love Lee, but when he struggles, our middle of the order becomes easier to pitch to. By having Lee and Fuku switch spots (Fuku 3rd, and Lee 5th) this would---in theory---give Lee more chances with runners on, and he could see more fastball counts.

Nonetheless, something needs to happen with Lee. Without Lee hitting in the middle of the lineup, our middle becomes very average. Unless Fuku magicially become a 30 homerun guy.

With that said, the Cubs WILL WIN tomorrow, force the split, and get the winning road trip.

mlb needs to replace the umpires with robots and cameras....i'm dead serious....this "human element" if effin' b.s.

I'm totally with you. But it'll never happen. Limited replay, yes, but complete elimination of fat, arrogant, incompetent umpires? Never.

I think the Cubs should send a petition into baseball, and asking them never to assigned the "brilliant" Cousins and Hernandez umpire crew to Cubs game again. It's apparently these two jerks have something against the Cubs. And everytime this crew umps Cubs games, the Cubs will automatically be at a disadvantage.

D Lee was not the story today. The story was Z meltling down like he hasnt in a long time.

Be careful. I agree with you. His defense sucked, but sometimes you have to sack up and pick up your team. Not pout and break stuff.

Not to defend the umpires..... but we are 3-2 with this crew on the field this year.

Regardless, those are plays Theriot and Fukudome need to play. If Z was a pitcher who kept his composure, it might not have mattered, but either way, the throw to second and the fly ball are balls are supposed to be caught.

At least if we were going to blow it, we did it in the 7th before the best bullpen pitchers had to pitch more. That's the only silver lining in an otherwise pretty terrible game. Marmol's pace dropped below 100 with the game today (although he's a good bet to go over again with 2 straight games he'll be rested in with the off day in between).

Remember when DLee didn't suck?

I honestly think Lee is on the down-side of his career. He will be 33 in September and it isn't just his offense that has taken a hit this year. He is still an above average defensive player, but he is making a lot more errors than he has in the past.

Likely a 3-4 trip... ugh

Hopefully Penny doesn't remember that he's supposed to be good tomorrow and Marquis doesn't remember he's supposed to be bad.

I'll take a 4-3 trip positively.
