I'd like to see Hernandez pitching well post-juice before he makes it on any of these lists.

He has been doing very well at extended spring training.

I dont see this as so bad.

Soto-Id take a guy like this to come through the system every 3-4 years.

Gallagher-Dude looks like he can be really good. Fantastic prospect.

Hart-Went through some tough times in MLB (not really that bad)but is having a good AAA season.

Vitters-Too early to write him off.

Rhee-Pretty exciting prospect

Pie-Maybe not a 'prospect' anymore but he is in AAA and i havent written him off yet.

Ascanio-Baseball America undervalues the role player or RP. They look at things as star, tools, ceiling, blah. Where was Michael Wuertz ever ranked? Hoff has a decent shot at replacing Ward next yeat too.

Donaldson-Dont get me started on him.

man there were a lot of busted pitching prospects from the first round of that draft.

Matt Harrington has one of the most "interesting" draft histories ever

Drafted: Selected by Colorado Rockies in 1st Round (7th overall) of 2000 amateur entry draft (June-Reg) ... Selected by San Diego Padres in 2nd Round (58th overall) of 2001 amateur entry draft (June-Reg) ... Selected by Tampa Bay Devil Rays in 13rd Round (374th overall) of 2002 amateur entry draft (June-Reg) ... Selected by Cincinnati Reds in 24th Round (711st overall) of 2003 amateur entry draft (June-Reg) ... Selected by New York Yankees in 36th Round (1089th overall) of 2004 amateur entry draft (June-Reg)

Do the Cubs really have 10 for-real prospects?

We have plenty of guys with huge ceilings. The problem is more about the holes in their game.

Why is Colvin ranked so highly by everyone? Because he was a first round pick? Where is Harvey then?

He seems pretty disappointing so far, and the way its going, I doubt he ever sticks in the bigs (lucky to get his cup).

That pick always had my scratching my head. Was never sold on him going that high. Would love to be wrong.

He's been playing CF pretty well, from all accounts, and finally started taking walks this season. He needs to get his power back up a bit (it'll happen) and his batting average will eventually climb back up after a hot streak.

Moreover, the rest of the system is pretty much terrible right now.

If we had eight clones of Dae Eun Rhee, I'd be pretty happy with our farm system.

Thanks for all the great answers. I wish the results were more joyous. I've heard of all these guys except for James Russell. Could someone please give me a comp and his potential upside? Thanks.

I love the depth of knowledge that board members have. I haven't seen a top 10 Cubs prospect list for a while. Has there been any massive changes since the start of the season? Who would replace Soto and Gallagher? Here is the preseason top 10 from Baseball America:

1. Josh Vitters, 3b

2. Geovany Soto, c/1b

3. Tyler Colvin, of

4. Jose Ceda, rhp

5. Sean Gallagher, rhp

6. Donald Veal, lhp

7. Josh Donaldson, c

8. Jeff Samardzija, rhp

9. Tony Thomas, 2b

10. Kevin Hart, rhp

What happened to Eric Patterson? Wasn't he the "organizational player of the year" just a year or so ago? His AAA stats look decent so far this year. AAAA player? Hopefully at the very least he's attractive enough to package up with a couple of other prospects for an arm at the deadline....
