I love how they mention batting average as the reason our offense is doing so well and not once do they mention walks or this team's newfound approach at the plate.

Of course not. Today's game is a great example, it was a game the Cubs lose if it's 2003-2007.

this is just as dumb:" Kerry Wood has held the bullpen together with 10 saves."

no, carlos marmol has been by far the most valuable part of the bullpen.

He looks like he's awkwardly smiling at something he doesn't want to. Like...

DRUNK GIRL: Oh my God, Alfonso you're so awesome, you're my hero.

ALFONSO: Thank you

DRUNK GIRL: Look at my boobies!

*girl shows misshapen boobies*

ALFONSO: *smiles awkwardly*

At leaast that's how I see it. Drunk

yeah its typical ESPN crap. The story has very very little insight and none for Cubs fans who follow the team and it gives the bullpen credit to Wood because he's the bigger name and everyone knows who he is. I wouldn't be at all surprised to see an ESPN article here in a day or week talking about the Wood revival.

W-L Batting average Runs per game ERA
8-2 6 .303 3.10

Good work on proofreading that, ESPN.com.

That's awesome. Our team BA is 6.

Which is why it's so surprising that we're scoring less than 1/3 of a run per game.

I'm still trying to figure out if this is good or bad. Damn it, where's Meph when you need him.

why didn't I notice before now that Soriano's middle name is Guilleard?

Is it because you've been in an alcoholic stupor since your separation?

Thanks for pointing to the comments, where fans of a certain NL Central team that has never won a game in the World Series make fun of the Cubs for not winning a WS for 99 years

This thread so far has made me laugh so hard I cried. Far more entertaining than the ESPN article that I didnt even bother to read, Im sure of it. Thanks for brightening my day guys.

There was a front page article on the Cubs franchise turnaround regarding walks a few weeks back. "They" is just one writer, and not the talking head for all sports writers covering the Cubs.

In fact, every Cubs game ESPN has televised recently, the primary topic discussed has been the Cubs plate discipline and patience. I expect more of the same from the tv crew again tonight.

So media, including ESPN, has been writing/talking about it. Just not this article.
