I have a friend who is part of a group that will bid on the Cubs. The 'Cubs books' have not been distributed yet, but he suspects they will have it by the end of May or first part of June. He says it will be broken down into three possible scenarios: Everything including Wrigley and 1/4 local Comcast, w/o Wrigley, w/o Comcast. The TRIB has just sent the 'book' to Bud Selig and his group of fine knuckleheads.

Just for clarification:

Scenario 1: Club, Wrigley Field, 1/4 Comcast

Scenario 2: Club, 1/4 Comcast

Scenario 3: Club

Crane Kenny was on the Score today and he clarified a number of things, things you guys probably know but I didn't. If the state of IL buys Wrigley, no tax dollars will have to be used. But if they renovate it, which they will have to, then tax dollars will obviously have to be used. Wrigley's landmark status only applies to the marquis, the scoreboard, and something else which I forgot. It sounded like the actual sale of the team isn't going to be happening anytime soon.

Please god tell me this is just a misspelling

I can't wait to see how much money the Cubs actually made all those years the Trib was trying to claim that they were losing money of broke. Good riddance Trib.

Ha! Nice catch. So much for the spellcheck function.

Unless you're bidding to buy the Cubs, I'm pretty sure none of us are going to see or find out what's in the book.

Sorry but the 25% interest in CSN must be sold with the club or it will then only be a 12.5% interest with the Sox, Bulls and Hawks splitting the other 12.5% interest in the network. That is how the contract is written. Not sure that someone would want to buy just 1/8th of CSN having very little leverage considering that Reinsdorf owns two of the teams involved.

You are correct...those books are not for public display.

And I would have to disagree that the Cubs made all sorts of money for Tribune. I know better.

So the Trib is like Al Capone? Are you the book keeper? ;)
