8 vs. San Diego

6 vs. LA

3 vs. Arizona

3 vs. Colorodo

The NL West is the bain of our existance, and we have 20 games against them in 5 week period. At least we get that tough part out of the way fairly early on, not to mention getting off very easy against the AL with Toronto, Baltimore, and TB.

Well, san diego will be tough, as will arizona.

But we've already proven we can beat colorado once, and without a botched double play we very well could have beaten them twice. Plus we get to play them at home. The dodgers are good but with our offense I think their pitching staff is beatable.

If we can play .500 through that stretch then I think we'll be fine.

The only thing tough about San Diego is Peavy and Young. Their offense has been worse than San Francisco's offense.

That's what scares me though. Their offense is a joke, but peavy and young have th ability to shut anybody down.

Colorodo doesn't scare me near as much as Colorado.

right on

Colorodo is the bane...

Bain: A brothel; a stew; a house of prostitution.

FYI,

It's actually:

7 vs. San Diego, 4 at home

7 vs. LA, 3 at home

4 vs. Colorado, all at home

Add in Atlanta for a 3-game homestand between trips to both coasts for 13 games, and 5/9 til 6-19 will be the toughest part of the schedule this year.

That's why it's good to be winning now. We have a little cushion to soften the blow if we have a rough patch.

Why is the NL West the bain of our existence?

The Dodgers, D-Backs, and Padres always give us a headache.

If we can get out of this block at or near first place, then I will be a true believer.

That would be great. But even if we come out within 2 games of first, we can take the division because after that our schedule isn't bad at all.

It's going to be a little interesting when the Cubbies get together with San Diego, I seem to remember a little bad blood last season, and thinking "man, gonna have to wait until next season or the playoffs to see what happens..."

The D-Lee/Chris Young thing? I think thats long over. It will just come down to one of the best offenses in the game vs. one of the best pitching staffs in the game. I just hope we can get at least on inning of Glendon Rusch.

Maybe I'm thinking about Atlanta and the Renteria slide into Fontenot. Too bad he's with Detroit now...

The reason the D-Backs and the Padres give us a headache is because they have been good the last few years. The D-Backs are still good, but right now the Padres and Dodgers look terrible. I don't think either of them will win 75 games. We should be licking our chops playing those two teams.

The D-Backs have always given the Cubs fits- even when they weren't good.

As far as the rest of them goes they are tough on the Cubs at home due to the travel and time differences.

Plus they have randy Johnson back - what are we, like 1 and 327 against him? Cripes.

**According to baseball reference Randy Johnson is 12-0 with a 1.98 ERA against us in 13 starts**

I don't care how old he is, he will probably still own us if he hasn't been carried off the field in a stretcher by the time we play them.

You know Randy Johnsons going to pitch in that series even if hes in a full body cast. We still wont be able to touch him.
