The trade is definitely mind boggling. I'd have loved to have the opportunity to beat it. That being said, I hope Pujols and A. Rod are involved in season ending injury situations and Tim flops. :) Another way to look I guess is that A Rod is now out of our division.. :)

yeah, i'm not complaining about it at all. i wouldn't have to worry about tim until the championship, at which time pujols will be wearing a sling on his right arm and drinking mai tais with his left. and a division rival who either makes the playoffs or is the last team out every year is admitting he's folding a half week into the season.

i just would have liked a shot at arod considering i was offering deals involving martin and/or teix for him before the draft.

I think the closest we got to completing the trade was Sheets, Teixiera, and Towles...that, and I had a hard time trading A-Rod in the division...I'm sure most of the Western teams aren't too happy with me right now...

Escobar's exempt status and his ability to play 4 positions (2 of which needed serious help) works out nicely. I really like Kershaw and I need pitching, exempt pitching, badly. Lowell is a gamble...

I would have really liked for you to have waited until Monday to make the trade. Hopefully Canseco is not full of it, and Arod has a nervous breakdown and starts crying in the middle of a press conference.

Damn, you really could have gotten more for ARod even without trading in division.

My offer for Utley still stands, though I'll have to replace Kershaw... :D

Nope with the amount of Exempts I have lined up I might as well keep the best second baseman in the league.

It looks like Edwin Jackson may finally be living up to his promise. He had a very good start today (for my bench, because I had to choose between him and Harang for my final start this week). I got him several years ago from Tim in the very first trade I made after joining the league, then gave up on him a couple of years later when he looked like a total bust. Fortunately I gave him another chance by picking him up last weekend when I cut Lieber due to his not making the Cubs' rotation.

I thought the trade was pretty fair.

On an unrelated note, I just watched a very wierd play.

Furcal triples and Russell Martin is at the plate. Martin pops one up over by the Padres dugout. Josh Bard is headed for the dugout and goes into a slide to make the catch. While in his slide, he crosses over the top step of the dugout, while simultaneously making an outstanding catch. Bard jumps up and runs towards the plate to keep Furcal from scoring. Brilliant play by Bard.

End result: Umpires get together and decide that Bard's leg crossed over into the dugout before the ball was caught. Bard is charged with an error and Furcal is advanced home on the play.

That might be the best error I see all year.

Juan,

After careful consideration, I've come to the conclusion that we're being too restrictive on keepers. We should go back to the 2500 point limit after this offseason. :D

Not what could have happened to change your mind :-k

You are still going to lose.

It's still smart money to take the field if you're betting on the outcome, yeah.

But even if I lose, I'll still like my team heading into next year with a core of Albert, ARod, Johan + Verlander and all my other exempt players. Have I mentioned yet that Justin Upton now leads all of MLB in home runs on the young season? :D

Agree. Consider it done.

And the good news keeps rolling in...Gallardo began his rehab today. He should be ready just in time for my matchup with Raisin. :)

Heck, let's make it around 1300-1400. I'll match up:

Pujols

ARod

J Upton

Hamilton

Hermida

Verlander

Gallardo

Hughes

Chamberlain

Parra

against what everyone else can keep at that point level! 8-)

Now that I have a chance to really chime in, I'm surprised at the trade considering that the first week of the season wasn't over. Then again, of course I'm not thrilled at having ARod in the division.

I'm confident that Kershaw will be solid in the future, but I guess I'm also surprised that he helped get ARod considering that he was outpitched by Rich Dorman last night. Crazy what face time on the main page will do.

I have a fantasy team in another league that's very happy about that.

Kevin Millwood gives up 12 hits and still scrapes out 23 points.

Unfortunately I'll be down 2 starts to 1 tomorrow.

Add the CG bonus and I may have finally got my first lead of the match at 1 point. Again, I'm down 2 starts to 1 so I'll need some help.

I blame Mother Nature for my loss this week. If the Cardinals-Rockies game hadn't been postponed the other day Francis' negative points would have counted, and that would have counted as 1 of HBC's 7 starts for the week.

Yes, I'm conceding, since I don't have any remaining starts for tomorrow.

Shane, if you see this in time, you may want to get another pitcher in place of bedard for tomorrow since he's been pushed back to Tuesday. I'd hate to see something like that decide the great game we've got going on.

Yeah I was a bit surprised when I logged on this morning and found myself behind. But I gotta like my chances to win since I am up two starts to one. Especially with Zambrano and Beckett as my two starters..
