Jose Canseco writes in his newest book than he introduced Alex Rodriguez "to a known supplier of steroids."

Well, that's it, lock him up and throw away the key. If that's all Canseco has on Rodriguez, he probably should have kept his mouth shut this time. But he didn't. He wrote that he hates Rodriguez because he believes Rodriguez was attempting to sleep with his wife. He also wrote to Rodriguez, "So A-Rod, if you're reading this book, and if I'm not getting through to you, let's get clear on one thing: I hate your (expletive deleted) guts."

This guy needs to shut his mouth

I tried to read Jose's first book. In fact, I made several attempts, but the writing was horrible. His writing and voice was weaker than most of my eighth grade students. After about the fifth try, I gave up.

I read his book with no problem - and realized that I was reading the words of a man who had zero loyalty to the MLBPA and all the players he ratted out. I found it interesting, and it seems that every person he outed is coming through in the wash. So far.

His tune in the book was that steroids were good for the game, and make you the most you can be - if used correctly. He seems to have changed his tune in the hearing. Perhaps he is a dynamic character?

Scumbag - yes. How many of our "heroes" are just as crappy? Clemens? Sosa? etc.....

It's Jose Canseco. Did you expect Nabokov?

this is an example of how anybody can claim that they are a "Published" author

Especially if they write something that gets published.

Vance has got some talented eighth graders.

No, Jose Canseco is just a huge moron.

Regardless, I cannot dislike Jose Canseco.

I don't know why.

I grew up watchingh the Bash Brothers and maybe that has something to do with it.

I'm a Canseco / McGwire fan --- A's only.

I never cared for McGwire while he was with the cardinals.

I know. . . I'm nuts.

You are not nuts, bhogg.

Yes, Canseco is a freakshow. But in a twisted way, his word is more solid than just about any MLB player alive. That's how sad the state of the game is.

No, its not. At all. Maybe a little bit at first, but this is his second freaking book. He's just motivated by money/spite, nothing I see to really trust there. I'm sure some of what he said in the first book may have happened to some degree but its in his best interest to sensationalize, because otherwise he loses that lucrative book deal. At least multiple people admitted their wrong doing when the Mitchell Report hit, he'll never admit he made stuff up, at least, not until he's out of book deals.

all of my heroes are dead.

Just like communism.

I think Jose is a bitter attention munger. I'll read/listen to what he has to say and hopefully the facts show him to be right or wrong and don't linger around to hurt an innocent person who has a big name as Jose knows he would get a lot of attention for naming in his book. Let's face it, if he says Irving Snotamorger hit on his wife, who would care?

you'd think he'd mention a-rod in his first book if he hates him so much. a-rod was just as much a superstar when that book came out.

Ok, what did he make up or sensationalize? Rafael Palmeiro? Tested positive and currently in hiding like a Munich terrorist. Mark McGwire? Pretty sure he used the juice also, as he now looks more like a pock-faced middleweight than the contender for the WWE Intercontinental belt he favored when he was bashing HR's at a record pace.

But no, Jose Canseco, is the scumbag here. The only black-eye that baseball has tried to bury because HE was more or less blackballed, blacklisted, whatever from baseball before he got the chance to hit that 500th HR, or add to his impressive Major League totals. MLB didn't want Jose Canseco, and for whatever reason, it looks like the MLBPA turned their back on one of their own. Why? Did he know too much? Did he talk too much? Hmmmmm.

Guys like McGwire, Clemens, and the like are the ones kids and fans looked up to and labeled "heroes" of the game, when the reality of the situation is that since the villainous Canseco started tooting his horn, the "preservers of the integrity of the game" have been grilled by Congress and made to at least acknowledge the rampant drug abuse that is MLB.

I am jogging my mind to find the testimonies that Canseco ever made that proved to be outright lies, or at least came out that way in the wash. Help me out....

You've listed one person who has been proven to have used steroids. While some others certainly raise eyebrows (Here's lookin' at you Mark), stuff like the ARod mention in the second book is just sad (as if its any surprise he listed the most recognized player in the game). The dudes simply milking whatever knowledge he had for cash and yet he's the victim here? You're acting like he's some exiled whistle blower, he wasn't giving people up out of some sense of morals, he literally sold them out. I'm pretty sure selling out 'coworkers', guilty or not is a fantastic way to earn a blacklisting. I'd never take anything he says, especially in one of his books, at face value. The guy is just filling pages to make some cash while he still can, even if its making something up.

That is kind of funky. I wonder if things changed between them after the first book or something else made it hard for him to mention ARod?

He's probably just shy. Writing a note to someone in your second book sounds just like junior high, only this time it involves a D-list celebrity and there's no spring dance involved.

He had stardom thrown at him at an early age. The very first game he went to they sang about him with their hands on their hearts and it was bound to go to his head. You know the song, Jose can you see.

Well, to be fair - I haven't read the second book, I was commenting on the first book. What I have read about the "A-Rod comments" have been pretty weak and personal. Canseco mentioned he had something to look forward to concerning Alex in the second book, and I agree - it is a classless attack on him with no basis or proof.

Like I said, Canseco is a scumbag - he's just not the only scumbag. BTW, several of the players mentioned in his book are no-brainers. Juan Gonzalez, Brett Boone, McGwire, Palmiero, etc. Good luck getting all the guilty parties to test positive....

Actually, I do kinda see him as a victim. Why wouldn't anyone sign one of the best power hitters in the game? He certainly had the ability to play Major League Baseball, or at least in someone's farm. The guy is playing MSBL because he was blacklisted. Way before he wrote a book. He wrote the book after non of his MLBPA fellow union members did anything to help him.

I'm pretty sure selling out 'coworkers', guilty or not is a fantastic way to earn a blacklisting. I'd never take anything he says, especially in one of his books, at face value. The guy is just filling pages to make some cash while he still can, even if its making something up.

Well, of course he is making cash off of his experiences. People will pay to read it, because it is interesting. Just like people will pay $45 for bleacher seats so we can watch MLB (think about it. Paying all these juiced up players means $10 beers and $50 seats). Besides, Canseco didn't get blacklisted because of the book. The book came afterwards.
