Hill will have a spot on the rotation, but if he continues to pitch like he has so far, he may not keep it.

That's sounds about right.

The one thing i will say is spring means zip, how many cubs hitters/pitchers have looked amazing at this time of year only to hit a wall in april chicago style. Maybe we get an opposite this year..............

It wouldn't surprise me if Lou told him to work things out in the minors at the beginning of the season and go with some combo of Dempster, Marquis, Marshall and Lieber. Especially if his side throwing hasn't been much better.

Lou wants to get off to a good start and letting Hill work out the kinks on the big club wouldn't be a good idea.

Does hill even have options left?

I really dont think Hill is going to be anywhere but the 4-spot in the rotation to start, or finish, the year.

If Blanco went yard then this game is merely an abberation. Tomorrow things should return to normal and then Hill will not suck.

On a serious note, has hill had blisters this year? I haven't heard anything but I thought I remember him having them last year and they affected his control a bit.

Looks like Hank White went yard.

Jeez. 2 games in a row.

He didn't hit a home run yesterday, just an RBI double.

Oh, i thought he went deep for some reason.

Live boxscore has Kroeger pitching. Anyone in Chicago care to confirm/correct.

It changed to Lahey.

Hill did say he had a blister after his last start, but said it would not be anything to be concerned about...

Bruce, was there one particular pitch that gave Hill more problems today? I know curves are never that great in Arizona but I've also heard Rich has had control problems with his FB this spring.

Looks like that Lahey guy may be on his way back to Minnesota or wherever.

Actually, no. I remember reading somewhere that the Cubs really like Lahey, and were close with Minnesota to making Lahey to PTBNL in the Craig Monroe deal.

That would make quite a bit of sense if it removed the stipulations regarding Lahey being a Rule V pick. It means the Cubs could put him at Iowa for a while rather than keeping him up just so they didn't have to offer him back to Minnesota.

not really worried about hill....the curveballs do not break out there, especially in the open parks, and hes been working on his changeup more....the fastball not getting over is probably just frustration...or at least i hope

Yeah, it would remove the stipulations and allow Lahey to be sent back to Iowa.
