I'm shocked that Lackey is hurt.

Unfortunately, Manny Parra is ripping up the Cactus League. But, he does have Ned Yost for a manager.

Take Lackey out and I still have the best pitching in the league.

I am so glad that I let Lackey slide and picked up Zambrano with my 1st round pick. Especially after today. Zambrano looks good. I hope he continues to look this good once the season starts.

I would also like to point out that Beckett and Zambrano is not a shabby 1-2 punch.

Who should I cut first from each illegal roster?

Anybody else having trouble logging into Roadkill? I've tried linking to CBS several different ways and can't connect.

I made my team legal yesterday, so it's not like I have to be there. It's just frustrating when you want to go somewhere and you can't. I want to see who Juan is giving a hard time to. :D

I deleted my temporary internet files, deleted my cookies, not sure what else to do.

Meh - my team was legal, then waivers happened last night. Just checked in to see who I ended up picking up. Dropped the extras, so I'm legal again.

Of course, I anticipated needing more guys to fill the roster since I've got seven trades out there. Of course, they've been out there for the better part of the week since the draft and I've had only one response of any kind from anyone. Has me pretty frustrated, to be honest.

Okay, I'm back online with Roadkill. Yeesh!

While you are dropping people, Juan, check all the teams who have ineligible players sitting on their DL. There are several teams who show to be legal, but have players who aren't eligible to be on the DL per your post under the new exemption rule.

i thought they could still be on the DL (if they're hurt and not playing and likely to be on the DL), but if they end up not starting the season on the DL, they had to be dropped.

my impression was that anybody could be on the DL right now, but if they don't start the season there, they have to be dropped.

Alright, I think I just needed to reread Juan's original response to DL players.

And if I read this right, any player currently on injured reserve as of today that doesn't actually go on the DL to start the season MUST be dropped, period.

Is that right?

There is a large grey area here, I just took it as in good faith in terms of if the player probably or might start the season on the DL.

where's the gray area? if a guy on your DL doesn't start the season on the DL, you lose him.

You can move him to the DL right now to avoid dropping players knowing he won't be on the DL. This way you could have a legal roster, and avoid making cuts.

well, i'm assuming he would have to be injured and not playing in spring games to be put on the DL. you can't just randomly put some dude on the DL.

are there non-injured players on teams' DLs?

There's players playing in spring games that are still likely to hit the DL to start the season. Mike Hampton just pitched today, and might start on the DL.

that was my understanding as well Abuck and Tim.
That's my understanding too. It's a roll of the dice. If you put a player on your DL now in anticipation of him opening the season on the DL, and then he doesn't, bye bye; you've lost him.

Think I'm safe with Prior? 8-[

I think one of the problems is that rosters needed to be made legal too soon. If the roster deadline was March 23rd rather than the 16th, we might have a better idea what players are more likely to begin the season on the DL.

Of course, other players can still get hurt between the 23rd and the 30th, so you can't solve all the worlds problems no matter what deadline you set.

The biggest issue of all is the fact that the discussion regarding DL players took place in an exemption rule change thread. This should be found under a super duper handy dandy rules sticky thread.

There should be 1 sticky thread for all the rules that govern Roadkill. There should be 1 sticky thread with a calendar of events.

March 9- Draft

March 16- Legal roster deadline

March 31- Opening Day

July 31- Trade Deadline

Day after World Series- First day trades can be made.

If we have this stuff in one thread where we can find it easily and reference it often, maybe we can answer a lot of our own questions and maybe teams would make themselves legal when they are supposed to.
