I don't know if C-Pat would even want to come back to Chicago. I'd love to see it happen, but that also means Pie isn't going to grow as a player. Unless one of them is moving to a corner outfield position.

I still have all my Patterson stuff on the wall downstairs, it won't come down. People just look at them and my Prior stuff and start laughing.

The next player you start to put on your wall tell us so we will know hes going to flop/get injured every year, and please don't put any current players on your wall, especially Pie, or Soto.

I still have these pictures of Prior and Nomar on my wall. I just can't let them go.

Patterson will turn 29 this season. Why do people think he could still turn into a good player?

you realize people were suggesting if the cubs trade pie they should make a effort to go get Coco Crisp.

Trading Pie would be a gawd awful mistake. Why does anyone put any stock into his short time in the Majors? Have any of you doubter taken a look at his minor league #'s? The kid mashes baseballs and he has a good shot at becoming an outstanding player.

Pie's sample in Chicago is just as reliable as Theriot's 06 or Fontenot's first month (June). This is just stupid, but if he flops we have the ALMIGHTY Sam Fuld right.......yay fall league MVP wooo! (sarcasm....sorry some people can't tell)

Pie's hitting should come around eventually, and who knows, he may crush the ball from the start, but even if he is hitting .230 with a .290 OBP for a couple months before he figures it out, he will still be more productive than Jones was over that time span last year, while playing stellar defense. I really do believe Pie will be good.

I'm failing to see the connection. I was talking about Corey Patterson.

Of all of the overhyped prospects the Cubs had (ie Hill, Cruz, Choi, Patterson, Kelton, blah, blah) Patterson was the biggest disappointment. Because this kid had enough all-around MLB talent to be a really good player (similar to a Steve Finley CALIBER player), but had the work ethic of hobo. If CPatt would have had even a mediocre work ethic, he would be enjoying a multi yr $10 mill+ contract right now, instead of basically begging for a job.

With that said, CPatt won't come back to Chicago. I'm kinda surprise Pittsburgh hasn't given CPATT a chance. Or what's even more shocking, Jim Bowden hasn't signed him, yet.

Are you affiliated with the Cubs' organization? If not, how do you know what his work ethic was, because I don't remember ever reading he was lazy. It seemed his problem was always that he was stubborn and refused to change his hitting approach. Combine this with the fact that Dusty tried to turn him into Lou Brock, and therefore pretty much wiped out any of the skills he naturally possessed, and you had a recipe for disaster.

If we had left him alone, Patterson never would have become Ken Griffey, but he would have become a very useful player, probably the Khalil Greene of CF's, but with a lot more SB's.

The most likely reason for Corey Patterson's inability to play baseball well is that he lacks the talent necessary to do so.

How about the fact that CPatt has been playing baseabll for along time, and for the most part he played the game on athlethic ability alone. Once he got into pro baseball, it never "clicked" as a player. He relied on his athlethicism too much, and he NEVER improved. He also chased FASTBALL up, or curveball/slider in the dirt. The only pitches CPatt ever hit were mistake pitches. And yes, I believe Patterson work ethics have been questioned before. I'm not saying having work ethic is the end all, be all to superstardom, because along with work ethic, you have to have to talent to make it work. So yes, I do question Corey Patterson work ethic, and his commitment to playing baseball.

[unless they include Pie in the package to get Roberts or to get that pitcher from the Jays that's not Brad Penny.
Otherwise known as A.J. Burnett.
